How often do you work out and exercise? Do you really care about what you eat? Do you play any sports? How important is staying fit to you and how do you ensure that you make it happen?

I've been mostly sedentary my whole life. As in, fast food, video games, rarely played sports, etc. The most I ever did in my youth was ride my bike and skateboard [badly]. But starting about 2 years ago I started to do some moderate exercise, mainly calesthenics in my room and some random shit outside. January of this year I joined a gym and started to go as often as I could [about 3 days a week.] At first I didn't make the most of it and was so out of the exercising cycle that I couldn't/didn't do much, but I'm making the most out of this summer and making every effort to stay fit.

I'm of average height and weight. 5'7". About 145 lbs. I'm really interested in shedding fat and letting the muscle show, along with building muscle. I'm beginning to make progress in terms of weight lifting... well, everything, really. As I've already said, I'm making the most out of this summer. Not only going to the gym but playing tennis, badminton, and swimming. I'm trying to fuse my normally sedentary life into as much action as possible, because I plan to be this way for the rest of my life. I've become quite the health nut, I admit, and strongly monitor what kinds of foods go into my body. I dont' starve myself, that's retarded, but I don't touch fast food and try to get like 6 small meals in a day and whatnot.

I can elaborate but I don't want to seem too much like a freak. I blame/thank the Rocky movies for inspiring me, rofl. I'm curious on how high of a priority fitness is to the members of this board, so please, entertain me [maybe even inspire me] with your ways.

How ya doing, buddy?

It is hard as hell to eat right in this country. The good stuff is rare, expensive, and the wholesome foods take too long to cook and... you have to COOK them. The easiest thing i can make that's healthy are veggie burgers [I'm not a vegetarian and I don't even do it for health reasons, it just tastes good and you just put it in the microwave... easier than the george foreman grill (which btw is VERY easy nonetheless)]

It's really all will power. I remember how hard it was for me to resist fast food, shit liek KFC owned my soul. But it's nice how I have a shitload of KFC downstairs [rest of my family] and I didn't touch a single piece and kept to my Health Choice frozen dinners, which by the way ROCK! Chicken Tuscany, omg.

I never paid much attention to my caloric intake, because I always figured it was amazing since I read the nutritional labels wrong. I recently discovered serving sizes and was shocked to see how the ramen noodles [which I usually consume two of for a meal] had a serving size of 1/2 block of one packet. I was like "WTF!?" and realized my caloric calculations have been wrong for so long.

Serving sizes are really ridiculous, and it has taken me a while to get used to them but I'm starting to be able to live on them without passing out from famine.

I like eating food a lot, and I love different varieties of food, so sometimes I put the effort and money and get different kinds of things to enjoy. Powerbars and drinks were never my thing and I read some nasty stuff about them so I try to stay away.

I joined the gym in January and kept at a wimpy pace for much of the year. Until this summer when I started using deadweights and discovered a new machine to add to my workout everytime. Working out to me is like ironing, each time I go a little further and discover new limits and boundaries but I never forget to go back to where I started to make sure I get the full work-out.

I don't just want a 6 pack, I dont' just want an 8-pack for that matter, I want to be completely and utterly fit and I want to keep it up for life. I see people like AHNOLD, Stallone, and Van Damme [people who were like my childhood heroes] who are like pushing 60 and still making movies and still looking and feeling as great as ever, and it honestly inspires me to take the extra step and enjoy the verve of life.

It's hard though. It honestly is. I've never been one for routines, and it takes a lot of will power for me to stick to my regimen and take the right steps. Often when I don't have work or school I get up at like 1PM and just fuck around the entire day, and it's horrible. This entire "outlook" has somewhat recently dawned upon me and isn't very innate to me, but of course, I hope to change that.

...green tea kicks ass too.

I never want an all-out Hulk body, in fact I don't want to really "bulk" up at all. People think that if they start lifting that they'll Hulk out overnight... it's fucking impossible even if you want it. It's a gradual process and involves a lot of mirror watching [trust me you will buy a mirror and masturbate to yourself if the results come out nice] and you'll be easily able to control where you go.

I just want a lean and fit body... anime-character stylezzz

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Fuck all of those "machines."

You can do incredible amounts of exercises with simple dumbells and barbells, and they are simply the best workouts because your muscles work towards balancing them in your hand as well as the workout itself. I prefer dumbells because each arm works out itself individually. You have no easy pulley system that aids in your workout, it's simply physics.
