While I recently had my upstream speed upgraded from 384kbps to ~1500kbps, it seems this benefit doesn't extend to torrent seeding, which is the main reason I want an increased upload speed. Since Comcast is the fastest ISP in my area (Verizon FiOS is not available yet), I need to find a workaround. I use uTorrent 1.7.2 and have protocol encryption enabled, which still doesn't help. |
You could try changing the ports used for the bt transfer. Also consider using tor or/and i2p for real anonymous file-sharing. Can be bit slow though and has its limitations. And AFAIK currently only Azureus has the option to use tor and i2p plugins.

I have heard that using an SSH shell can help me bypass this limitation, but I have no idea how to properly set that up. Any assistance in making it so I can upload at full speed with uTorrent would help immensely.

Huh? You know what a secure shell is, right?
It's nothing more than a secure way to remote control your system by commandline. Of course you can tunnel a lot of protocols through the SSH (like the X protocol for remote desktop access) but you should think about that the tunnel has to exit somewhere and some server has to decapsulate the data. I don't think you have a server out there that does this for you...
