How does Windows Update behave when you run it manually (ie, from the Microsoft website)? Does the problem recur?
If it does, it's possible your system was messed up somehow. I have had instances when Windows Update screwed up my computer, though not with the .NET framework. System Restore usually takes care of things, provided you still have the restore point. If you don't, then I suppose you'll either have to grin and bear it, or reinstall the operating system. Arguably a bit drastic though. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
