Under device manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, uninstall both Primary and Secondary IDE Channels, and restart. Does it work?

But that one's primarily for CDs/DVDs. Guy's having trouble with his hard disk
 Anyway, if everything else fails, have your hard disk checked. This might be indicative of impending hard drive failure. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
