DMA or PIO

I sent my hard drive to WD for an RMA and got a new one, same model. Its a WD800JB-00JJA0. 80 gig HD 7200 rpm 8 mb cache. I cant enable DMA though, its always on PIO. I go into device manager and it is is set on DMA is available, but it stays on PIO. I know the hard drive can do DMA, so what else might need to be done to enable this? it goes so slowly without it...

i really need some help here =(

Under device manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, uninstall both Primary and Secondary IDE Channels, and restart. Does it work?

But that one's primarily for CDs/DVDs. Guy's having trouble with his hard disk :p

Anyway, if everything else fails, have your hard disk checked. This might be indicative of impending hard drive failure.
