Ahhh, so it's actually an icon that's GOOD TO HAVE

____

Derik has taken a total of 46HP damage. By my reckoning he should not be dead (Erik was at 46 damage before, and was still alive then) but very close to it. 4 HP damage should kill him dead.

It's not so bad, +10 to hit vs. AC is basically what I can do with non-careful attack arrows anyhoo, and it's probably comparable to your "Vicious Mockery" but with bigger damage, since I guess Will is usually 3 points behind AC. (Man, you got absolute max damage, nice rolls.)

Once Derik dies, maybe you can attack him on melee as well with a flaming sword wrapped around a cotton dress! Higher chance to hit as well, +10 vs 20 (10+ roll hits) compared to +7 vs 18 (11+ roll hits)... Course, you're a squishy bard, so eh...

____

As far as moves are concerned though, I was thinking how nice it would be if Gheth had Glock's charisma score and has the Consecrated Ground daily. 5HP regeneration per round per bloodied player in the zone, 1d6+4 radiant damage to every enemy in that 3x3...! Oh well, I guess that's all wishful thinking.

____

Pang, I want to swaddle my Bastard Sword in peasant dress, ignite it, and throw it to Garrmondo. Will I be able to do that, and attack Gorg, in one turn?

Proposed sequence:

Move: Go to AB-3
Minor: Retrieve sword, wrap around cotton dress, ignite, throw to Garr
Major: Shootery

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Horned Hold has tons of crossbows you can swipe from dead duergars, though you probably don't have proficiency till level up time.

Oh level up time, so far far away with 945 XP to go

It's a HOBBY. He's a ranger man, he totally knows his taxidermy and use of creatures!

I only wanted a few GPs, is all Guess I will get them another way to fund my lust for adventurer gear...

I don't want to spring this on you Pang, so let's give you time to prepare a suitable list (or perhaps a suitable rejection)! I've been thumbing through the Adventurer's Vault, and I covet a mount. I don't think cheap horsies live in caves, but maybe some other usable mounts do! Soooo, I intend to buy one at the next opportunity if the price is right

_____

Denicalis' mention of "Darth and Droids" much earlier in the thread made me rather curious, so I started looking at it. Episode 344 had a bonus feature with a what-if frame-for-frame rendition of grapple rules.

Is this.... really based on a real game system? :O

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I has minor question about concealment! Does the smoke cover Y-5 and Y-4 as well?

Also guys, why don't you use your action points. Pang admits we've strictly fought a Level 10 battle, so I'm sure that counts as a milestone (2 encounters without taking a short rest an extended rest) so you'll get one back

Yessir! Right away sir!

Okay, so it's extended rest, not short rest. Still a level 10 encounter counts as two back-to-back level 5 encounters, right?

Three questions for Mr. Pang!

1. Will Changeling Trick give me combat advantage for ranged attacks, or is it strictly a melee matter?

2. If I want to keep up the pretense, do we make opposed bluff rolls every round? (Of course it stands to reason the whole ruse is busted once I try to attack him, but what if I don't?)

3. Just for flavor, is it possible to describe how high the room is, and what raiment Gorg is wearing?

Some of you may notice a new field on your character sheets. Pay it no particular mind.
Sweet. But I only got two kills ;___;

Nominating Skills for one more achievement: First to have 2 characters he controlled (Naked dwarf, doorman) die.

until you do something that makes it obvious you're a fake (or in same cases, failing to do something).
Helga's a bossy type. Don't you guys think it would be quite... out of character for her to so easily acquiesce to a shouted demand, especially coming from an inferior (in status and intelligence) being such as the Grimmerzhul pet troll...?

Please, Zerg. If I let you chip in on achievement ideas Cal would be drowning in the damned things before the week's out. I HAVE SEEN THROUGH YOUR RUSE.
Moar liek Kuribo Award-style "achievements" like: worst plan ever, worst role-playing ever, best rules lawyer, best munchkin, and greediest PC ever... amirite?!

So anyway to make this post at least tangentially on topic, what's Gorg's passive insight score that I have to beat with Changeling Trick?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

___

PHB says aid another is a basic melee attack, strength versus AC 10. I want to make sure aiding Garr succeeds, and will spend my Lucky Charm Daily if need be. Does a roll of 8 succeed? (I'm not sure what roll enhancements to add).

Edit: Ummm, you withdraw your answer, Skills?

Oh Pang, you know I'll never attack any monster on melee. Much less unarmed. Feel free not to update it.

I totally intend to pick up that sword later. It's just that stowing swords takes a minor, while dropping them is free. And my past few turns just don't give me the chance to use that minor

We're not operating on my plan today. I look forward to seeing how it works out too, and relish the chance to castigate the culprit if it goes south.

And I'm sure someone could persuade Zerg to go through all the old adventure threads and add up kill tallies for them too.
Nope, that's a bookkeeping job, my friend

Anyway I am sure it's unnecessary. Everyone knows Argumentus has the highest number of kills, while Bob has the least...

Zombie Minions killed by your Hargast barricades don't count, right?

Anyhow, isn't D&D the granddaddy of all role-playing games? It's nice to go from a month of hack and slash (which, for the case of an Archer Ranger, is thwip-thwip-run) to roleplay for a bit.

Torture is such a terrible word. Think of it as a less-pleasant shaving experience. Can't have him firing off poisonous quills at us while we're interrogating him, right

Besides, if there's any... enhanced interrogation involved, Cal won't be the best man for the job - having such a piss-poor intimidation and strength score... I suppose he can indirectly go physical with acrobatics...

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Pang, it's likely I'll be using this power in the near future, so I'd like to clear up some doubts in advance.

How would you interpret "moves closer to you"? Since it's an opportunity action, does it follow that only voluntary and non-shifting movements are subject to this?

Second, will this in turn trigger opportunity attacks? Let's say 1 square separates me and a melee enemy, and he moves adjacent to me. Will he get an AoO that interrupts the activation of the ranged basic attack?

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I am very sad that I did not get to abuse Spitting Cobra Stance before the erratum.

To compensate me for my sadness, I wish to immediately retrain the Lethal Hunter feat into Hunter's Aim , Split the Tree to Hunter's Bear Trap , and Shadow Wasp Strike to Disruptive Strike !

Actually, I thought that as a coward, Nimble Strike was better than Careful Attack. Most of the time I'll be using Twin Strike, unless accuracy is necessary (burn a troll, lolol)

As far as retraining is concerned, I'm kinda vacillating between getting me a Greatbow or a Superior Crossbow. 1 point of accuracy sounds better than 2 points of damage, but I can't use Twin Strike with crossbows !@#!!@! and must take two feats to use it properly, that being Superior Crossbow proficiency and "Speed Loading"

Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaase with sugar on top?

5 points of extra damage on an at-will isn't anywhere near comparable to a possible 1d10+7 AoO on every single opponent that moves closer to me (less one), per round!

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Excuse me! I took the corpse mangling thing from whoever put that decapitated dwarf head on a pike!

Also! I mangle corpses. He draws and quarters living things, then roasts. Totally different.

Told you before. Adaptable and all that. Pang (Wave of Despair) and Skills (Diplomacy with Helga) totally started the Helga harlot thing too =O

I installed Character Builder, and tried to create a virtualized version which doesn't need installation. However, it's a bit wonky and has crashed intermittently on me. It's been updated up to November 2009, as per Pang's patch (December patch won't come out till January 2010 it seems). You DO need to pre-install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 beforehand! If any of you want to geek out on it without needing to install it, please refer to the link below.

Now, a question. I'm trying to replicate Cal's character with this. While I get close-enough results, it isn't really identical. Anything I'm doing wrong? The difference is I get 14 Constitution instead of 12, Reflex and Will are lower by 1 point, Bluff is lower by 2, and Endurance higher by 1.

Man, I wish I installed this thing earlier. Could've let me min-max and hand-pick to my heart's content beforehand.

Character Save File

===

Nah Shin, you could just probably roll away without knowing what you need. It's not like you can influence the result or anything. If it's a fair fight, and you're using an attack you're good at, I'd guess a roll of 11 and over will hit (basically 50% chance). Maybe 12 or higher if it's a boss.

Anyhoo Pang will just say so if it's a miss.

Hey now. Just progressing it along because you seemed impatient in your post. I'm fully content to continue to outwit the silly box...

Also, another vote for Baphomet to finish the quest. Skills is mostly likely going to object, but depending what we meet there (I am not liking Pang's foreshadowing of a ghostly Gorg), we may need another extended rest to deal with the rest of the duergar.

Up to you folks if you want to free the slaves (encounter with Framath, 5-6 duergar scouts, at least 3 spined devils - let's hope Erik was exaggerating) and kill the boss (encounter with Murkelmor, 2 Rundarrs, and 2 scourge thingies). The way the locations were described, the slave pits and Murkelmor's chambers are separated only by a corridor, so activating one might also mean activating the other (like the Level 10 encounter we just had).

Under the 5 point system:

Baphomet, then leave - 3 points
Baphomet, then finish Horned Hold - 2 points
Leave - 0 points

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
