Lurks I have a lazy warlord waiting in the wings. Basically he doesn't attack anything, at least not competently anyway. He just stands there are tells everyone else to hit things for him.

I can build you one so you basically order everyone else around. Having a party of such lazy asses should be great fun!

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Yeah, I guess you're right.

I'm also trying to build a Seeker, but man are the power choices limited. Martial Classes get all the fun

BTW, Pang, Deni. Do you happen to have the October 2010 updates? Or did Wizards eschew it again for Essentials releases?

Based on an initial eyeball of the October Errata, I don't think it will impact any of the games here.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Aw dang. I wanted to see how Essentials change things around with the feats no longer tiered and such (without needing to read the books).

A question for your guild system. You said you'll be using inherent bonuses so we can accessorize more. Will you be sticking to the new player gear and cash rule (level +2 item, level+1 item, level+0 item, cash equivalent to level-1 item) or will you have a separate budget calculation?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

All right, so basically Adventurer's Pack, mundane weapons and armor, and cash equivalent to Level - 1? Goodbye, boons and tattoos.

Guess I'll have to rethink McLucas' gear, since it assumed the gear+1, +0, and -1 were sold for 100% cash and used to buy other doodads.

(And yes, I meant "new player", and it looks like I goofed with the +2 thing)

I was speaking idiomatically.

Hawk, rules as written, you can't end a jump in mid-air. A little re-jiggling of events (Deft Strike+shift), then a run (moving a total of 10 squares), will let you end up at Row AR (I suggest maybe AR51).

Of course, maybe Pang can be persuaded to house-rule this, because frankly gravity and momentum do not work that way when you "run out of movement"!

Why not start a new thread asking for players, so we can gauge interest? Pang's waitlist is no longer a reliable indicator - four people declined to replace Garr (Soluzar, Araes, lurker, and Maris) before Deni stepped in.

Nah, I plan to permanently retire Cal from all games. Don't worry about converting him.

After almost a year of playing, I have come to the conclusion that archer rangers are boring, no matter how depraved or eclectic a personality he has.

My next characters should have more of a melee touch.

I, um... that is... THE GODS! don't think it's... acceptable to pass, er, used beads on to your friends, er, especially when you found them in a used state yourself, or, rather, dug them out of the very body cavity in which they were, so to speak, embedded.

'cuz that's gross.

Those frozen dwarves you found had some weird hobbies is what I guess I'm trying to say here
Hot damn. All that passive perception and Cal never noticed the true purpose of those anal beads? Oh my.

Well, I figure there are questions specific to each particular game. Sure, we could lump it together, but segregation might be beneficial. Hawk's game, for example, will necessarily have to deal with game mechanics already covered in the Magic Missile thread. There is strictly no need for a separate Arena discussion thread, but I am using it to monitor sign-ups (as if) so

Pang, special request from a cheapskate.

Is it possible for you to download Compendium data with MasterPlan 9.5 and share the .library files here?

I just might possibly be grasping at straws here, but could you try with MasterPlan 8.8, supposedly the last one with Compendium access?

Also, I would expect WotC to implement some kind of IP check, or possibly restrict the session to one IP logged in at a time. Because if they don't, one person from, say, SA, can post his login credentials. And that would be sad.

HP69 S09 AC25 Fort18 Ref19 Will18 Gra-fa-zut
HP52 S06 AC23 Fort15 Ref23 Will17 Samwise Shadowspade
HP60 S10 AC20 Fort19 Ref15 Will15 Uxig Uxigson

The whole point of a meat shield is to get hurt for the benefit of others, and Shin's PC is literally composed of savory beef. I'm just saying.

Zerg, I'm not going to accuse you of anything, but if you happen to accidentally stumble upon information regarding this adventure's particular challenges, please keep it to yourself. Or we will have words.

(The words will be uttered in an angry voice with many non-sibilant fricatives.)
Now now. You know very well nothing would please me more than to see the halfling rogue eviscerated into ribbons. Given that I have no investment of any kind in this particular party, why ever would I be motivated to accidentally stumble on any information regarding challenges?

I fully intend to sit back, relax, eat some popcorn, and eagerly anticipate every single one of the party die a horrible horrible death!

Also, Beefi's the textbook illustration of a glass cannon striker (give him a +2 magic armor out of pity), so it's his job to grind enemies to dust before they turn him into hamburger. Given his low initiative, I suspect he's going to get pounded into fine paste pretty much before he has a chance to rage. Meat shield indeed.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well, inherent bonus gives him +2 to attacks and damage, and +1 to defenses right now. Normally, without the inherent bonuses, he'd be entitled to a Level 8, 7, and 6 item, which translate to +2 armor, +2 weapon, and +2 neck slot item no matter which item is at what level.

In the Defenses section of the sheet, compare the enchantment bonus given to Gra-fa-zut against the rest of you.

Don't get me wrong. There's no way we can give Barbarians Defender-type AC and still keep them effective as strikers. Highest I've gotten a level 7 minotaur barbarian's AC and make it something I still want to play with is 21, with a penalty to Will; naturally it inflicts considerably less damage than Shin's optimized build.

AC 19 still makes Beefi Pang's punching bag (level 7 enemies' +13 vs AC = hit on 6+ or 75% chance of getting whacked). But hey, 1 additional AC means roughly 5% less chance you get hit

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Nope. For this reason, I put this information in the character sheet for my characters. I also prefer quick reference sheets to manually browsing through powers list, but your mileage may differ.

I suggest putting all that situational damage under the "Notes" section. There's plenty of bonuses to attacks and rolls you barbarians get.

Shin, I'm done with modifications and am reverting Beefi to you. I took the liberty of adding a quick action sheet organized in the Monster manual style.

Looking at Hawk's explanation of initiative rolls in the training thread made me wonder. How does one break ties in initiative rolls? I've been using the initiative bonus as the tiebreaker in the Arena, but was wondering whether monsters just go first in the event of a tie?

PHB3 149 agrees with Pang - choosing Rune Master as a Hybrid Talent will let you activate that class feature (Destruction/Protection). Otherwise, you only get the Runepriest's Runic Artistry and Defiant Word* features. Looks like that's the trade-off for being a flexible Hybrid class.

* Wisdom mod is -1, so does this mean you get a -1 penalty to damage rolls against enemies that miss you? :O
