For sharing files, FTP is probably the best solution. You essentially set it up so you have a folder acting as the server root and private or public accounts for your friend(s) to access your files in that folder.
For transferring files, I'd just recommend using whatever instant messaging client suits your needs. They should all come with a simple file transfer feature nowadays, so all you have to do is agree on a single client/protocol with your friend. Most amazing jew boots |
