Extended battery life and video output are the exact two things I'm really missing on my PSP. I was hoping they wouldn't get rid of UMD and the current layout. This is perfect.

![]() You can view/download the manual here. Most amazing jew boots |
So the latest revision of M33 custom firmware lets you choose the official Sony ISO loader (also known as module NP9660) to play UMD dumps from Memory Stick.
Now here's the thing: NP9660 mode has 100% (!) NO-UMD compatibility, meaning you can now play all games from Memory Stick without a UMD inserted. Not only that, but load times have also decreased significantly compared to the "normal" ISO loader. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
If you're happy with 3.03 OE-C, stick to it. There's absolutely no reason to update if you don't need the new Kernel and/or features.
Anyways, I wanted to ask if anybody finds the RSS feature of the PSP as amazing as I do. Seriously, I couldn't live without it. Downloading/streaming and listening to podcasts on the go is the best thing since sliced bread. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
OK, so I'm finally thinking about joining the M33 communists (mainly for the awesome No-UMD ISO Loader), but the alleged slowdown in the XMB is holding me off. I don't know what's causing the XMB on M33 to be so slow, but I know people who have gone back to 3.40 OE-A because of this. Is it really as bad as some people make it sound?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

So did anyone on GFF actually get a new Slim & Lite PSP? I'm patiently awaiting the first impressions, especially on the TV output feature. I hope there will be Scart cables for Europe ...

Am I the only one thinking 1.50 Kernel no longer being available in newer firmwares (either official or custom) is a good thing? I'm hoping this will make programmers look into shitty Homebrew such as Snes9xTYL and stuff that was never compatible with WPA-protected WiFi and release newer versions with updated features. The scene really needs to move on, there's absolutely no excuse to not use the latest Kernel for Homebrew.
FELIPE NO |
These official themes are so much better than that ugly ass crap that people hacked together before it was an official feature. It's also good to see that Sony is going the way of unified firmware for both PSP models.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Anyone toying around with DOSBox for PSP? It's a little tricky to get everything up and running, but this sure brings back some memories (including one of my first PC games ever, Dune 2):
![]() A lot of stuff is playable if properly configured, use of hotkeys is advised because the built-in keyboard is a particularly weird one (PSPRINT). You guys know where to get this stuff, so I won't bother with links. Ah, messing with CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT - good times ... Jam it back in, in the dark. |
3.02 OE-B already supports both PSX emulation and PSP ISOs. No need to update, you're just doing it wrong.
Additional Spam: For all fans of the 1UP Show, I'm now providing PSP encodes for download, including RSS feed: The 1UP Show - Unofficial PSP Feed Just finished uploading the recent episode. I'm providing these as long as I'm not running out of bandwidth or contacted by 1UP.com to remove them. There's nowhere I can't reach.

Final Fantasy Tactics (European Version) works just fine on my 3.40 OE-A.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Just update to 3.40 OE-A, Qwarky. No special tricks required. I think it's the most stable custom firmware out there, and most newer PSP games work fine with it. Among the more recent ones, I've tried Final Fantasy Tactics and the God of War demo and both run fine. I'm using my PSP regularly and can't think of a single reason to update to a newer firmware.
