I disconnect for a week—don't talk to anyone, don't go online, don't pick up the phone. Read books, listen to music, try to not watch TV, play videogames or use the computer, and keep a pad and a pen about you.
My imagination really only kicks in when I'm completely isolated. Having a constant stream of information and communication tends to sap my creativity, oddly enough. Jam it back in, in the dark.  |
