Usually, I skim a thread to see what some other people are posting. Some comments stick out either due a quote being used or some text being written in all caps. In any case, I try to read the interesting stuff and, only if I need to reply to someone or something someone said, I'll make sure to look over the posts after it to make sure what I want to say hasn't already been said.
