or rather...
Spoiler:
This is probably the first PPV where I got all my predictions right (I posted them somewhere else but not sure if I posted them on SB or not before the switch). The only thing I was slightly off was the result of the Kennedy/Flair match and it wasn't due to the winner but rather how the winner won. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Well...

Haven't seen Cena's um, video game shirt?
HBK superkicked Cena who fell onto Orton for the pin. Yeah, the IC title has become an AFTERTHOUGHT as of late. It seems when Jeff holds it, it becomes more of a trophy than a title as half the time he is in other matches that don't really involve the IC title (teaming with Matt, going for the world title, MITB). Orton would be the shocker to win the title. I remember that USA wanted Orton to have the title though because it was fresh/made better ratings/something so it's not impossible. I doubt Cena will get the title. If the WWE is wise, they will have Trips pin Orton, defend the title the next month, then Orton have a mini-feud with Cena until they have a number one contender's match in which Cena will beat Orton and face Trips at Summerslam. Yes, i know, you all don't want Cena in any main events but given the line-up of guys who are main-event caliber, this is probably the best choice as of right now. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |

Probably Nash will turn on them. Cage/Joe could do well with a win over the big man.
It would be wise and surprising to have Orton win. The last time a heel won the main event at 'Mania was in 2000 (Triple H no less). Well, that's if you don't count Cena who got booed out of the building when he faced HBK last year. The thing with Cena turning heel is it leaves virtually no one to feud with Orton. Hardy~Orton has been done and while it may be entertaining to have another match, I doubt it will be much different than RR. HBK has already lost to Orton. Jericho and JBL will probably be tied up in their feud. I suppose they could have Batista return to Raw as that would be a fresh feud but the best thing to do is keep Cena face (as much as I hate to say it) for a while longer. Oh yeah, Cena still is pulling in the bucks in merchandise so I really don't see it happening unless sales go down. I think that's what Vince is aiming for...get the most bucks out of Cena, then turn him heel. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
True, but the thing is Christian, Jericho and Austin were selling most of their merchandise to teenagers and up. I'm not saying that NO children bought their stuff but most likely the younger audience didn't as much. OF course, Cena were to regain his edgy coolness that people liked way back in 2003/4, then that portion of the audience may buy his stuff again.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I think that may be the hardest match to call for Mania...HBK Vs Flair. MITB is also difficult because it might be Kennedy winning, then going for a title shot at the end of Mania (although 1) him saying that ruins the surprise and 2) he wouldn't be much of a heel as he would have had his own match earlier that night).
How ya doing, buddy? |
We know...we know.
It reminds me of one of the things Jericho said waaaaaay back when he, Christian and Tomko Teamed Against Michaels, Cena, and a Mystery Partner. Christian: "You don't thnk it could be his pal, Kevin Nash, do ya?" Jericho: "No, no, no. Nash pulls a hamstring trying to answer the phone." As slightly something more humorous, read these match results: Online World of Wrestling Go for the last match and I think you'll get it. Actually, lately I have been watching a lot of Nash/Diesel and Hall/Hall/Ramon moments when they were in their prime. It's amazing to see how they have turned out. In truth, Nash is doing the best and Nash really only recently started to wrestle again after having some sort of managerial role. I think the only reason Nash is back is so he can lose to 1) Angle, 2) Joe, and maybe 3) Christian. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
See, the thing (again) is that Kennedy wouldn't really be screwing Triple H becasue Kennedy also would have had his MITB earlier that evening. Now, granted, he would have had a bit of a break until his match with Trips but it's not like how Edge used his world title shots to win.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
A shame for Hornswaggle because ultimately he and we ALL know that once this is done he'll be gone in six months.
Actually, the last (world) title change on Raw was July of 06 when Edge won a triple Threat against RVD and Cena. But I know what you are getting at... I was speaking idiomatically. |
Whoops. Once again, I am defeated by not seeing that there is a new page. Blast you...page 97 of this thread!

It is a shame that Benoit's legacy has been heavily tainted due to his actions during that one weekend. It's actually STILL something even I have trouble dealing with.
That being said, I can't see Benoit being in the HOF this year. The WWE received a LOT of backlash just because of the tribute show when they didn't know at that point in time what had happened. At least then they had something to defend themselves. If they put Benoit in the HOF then they will get blasted big time by the media-something they do NOT want for this coming Mania. I don't see Benoit ever making it into the HoF. Yes, he DID contribute a lot and give a lot of memories, but he also took away even more, and for those memories we have, they are forever dainted by what we know he would eventually do... FELIPE NO |
I have heard both stories. The funny thing was I heard the ref counted them out as some sort of rib (?) or something. Either way, what they did to the ref was not planned beforehand and hence their releases.
Eugene is back? That surprises me but given the Wellness Policy may be falling into another black hole, I guess it's safe for him to return. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Good point Manny. Nevermind about Eugene returning then...
How ya doing, buddy? |
Actually, Cena is pretty decent at commentary. I happened to watch a UPW DVD where he did commentary for one match and was surprised. Now, he is surely behind J.R. Solie, King, Tenay, Schivonie (SP?), perhaps Lance Russell (before my time but from what I read he was excellent) and a few others, but there has also been a LOT worse.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |

Mayweather supposedly said he wasn't 'stopping until be became WWE champ'. Ugh.
Oh, and with all the new themes, it's the usual "We are about to release a new theme music CD but we actually have to make them theme music for our wrestlers first to release that CD" Oh, and speaking of TNA, it's been reported that Flair's retirement is so huge that even TNA wrestlers are buying their own tickets for the HOF. I hope the WWE doesn't do something foolish as this shows a ton of respect towards Flair. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

That's unfortunately for Rey Rey. I guess he'll be out for some time.
The Rock COULD come back but it's very doubtful. Still, him punking Cena would be a huge match that people would love to see. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Which was barely a rant. I felt people blew that out of proportion. Still though, MAYBE something will come of it...
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I do feel the following will happen:
In the Triple Threat Match, Triple H will finally win it, pinning Orton. Kennedy will come out, and beat down Triple H during his celebration. He'll demand his match and beat Triple H. Kennedy will walk out of Mania as champ to the surprise of everyone. Of course, Vince will play a part and it will later be explained that Kennedy is his son, and he's proud that Kennedy, his son, is champ. Kennedy will feud with Triple H for the next few months, although he'll defend the title against Cena, a newly turned Orton (and Cena will turn heel), and then Triple H by Summerslam. FELIPE NO |
Doubtful. Cena as a heel champ isn't serving the purpose VInce wants (merchandise). Doesn't mean it's impossible but I can't see it. Then again, a heel Cena may be like a Heel Rock...
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Which he COULD. Do you remember The Rock when he went heel after a long face turn? As a face, he slowly but surely became like most old-fashioned faces (hand-shakes, playing the hero, etc), kinda like Cena has done. Then, when he turned heel, he did his heelish mannerisms and was red-hot again.

Ring of Honor is probably my favorite promotion to watch right now. Promos take a back seat to good, fast, well-done wrestling.
Some slight advice though is to wait until they have a deal on DVDs. They have things like 50% off, buy 2, get 1 free, etc. That would be a nice time to stock up on ROH DVD's. Kevin Steen and El Generico have really gone up the ladder. I remember when Steen got smashed within minutes and Generico lost a match within thirty seconds or whatnot. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Quite right. I think this basically goes with what Bret Hart says, "Tell a story in the ring." and that's what they do.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Well kids, so much for Jeff Hardy's push. He got suspended again. Man, the IC title seems to go from suspension to suspension (Hardy only got it because Umaga got suspended all those months ago).
I am guessing he was one of the top candidates for the MITB match. I feel Kennedy was the top candidate but perhaps whoever gets Hardy's spot will be the guy who actually wins it. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
