First of all Enter User Name that website you posted is pretty stupid. "Hey Vice City has a Miami backdrop which was taken right from Scarface!" Think about that for a second.
"Hey our hero works his way up the criminal ladder! Just like Tony!"... um that's the premise for every GTA game, and a shitload of other random videogames and movies. I'll give you that the mansion IS the Scarface mansion, and even the 'last fight' is ripped right out of Scarface. The rest of it is ambiguous gangster tomfoolery. About 10% of Miami Vice episodes had club scenes, that doesn't help the arguement. Game that has trendy 80's references vs. TV show that embraced (and defined) 80's trendienes vs. Movie that had a club scene. I'm not belittling Scarface, seeing as how we're just talking about some generic Miami Club giving the nod to one over the other is silly. Songs from the Scarface soundtrack? That's reaching. Those were just POPULAR SONGS FROM THE 80'S that the makers of Scarface used for it's soundtrack. If you did know about Miami Vice you'd know that pop music was a huge part of the show, and going off of memory I think several of the songs on the Vice City soundtrack were in the show. As someone who's seen Scarface and is a Miami Vice fan I have to agree with Shin here. Anything that's in VC that was in Scarface (other than the mansion) is just par for the course. But the behaviors of the characters, the senarios all ooze Miami Vice. Hell when you get 3 (or is it 4) wanted stars two cops one in a sports car one white and one black, one with a pistol the other with a shotgun come out to hunt you down. Then there's the Cigarrette boat race straight out of an episode form season 2 of Miami Vice (and the intro for that matter). And the packages you have to pick up? THAT STATUE is from an episode of Miami Vice where these two teenagers were trafficing drugs from Columbia. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
