I think that some particularly ugly guys with bad skin might actually benefit from wearing make-up. The trouble is, most men (and I suspect most women too) would call men who wore it effeminate. That's pretty much only a Western taboo; there are cultures all around the world where men wear makeup for various reasons (especially eye-liner) to make themselves more attractive to women or to participate in certain tribal rituals.
