Seriously, screw this being unbiased gamer thing. If Nintendo steal the show and then dominate the market by the end of next year then I'll go fanboy (like back in the SNES days).

WIIII!!!!
Well, what other console stuff have they been working on for the last 2 years? They should have a lot saved up by now, it won't be hard for them to to have more at this E3 than the other companies have (especially since about the only major stuff they had on the console side at the last 2 E3s was Twilight Princess...which is now for the Wii, go figure).

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Ugh...I just remembered how terrible it is trying to watch a Nintendo conference. I saved that video of Twilight Princess being revealed just because it was funny seeing the croud's reaction. I hope we can hear Miyamoto in this one over the people screaming "WOOOOOO!" and "YOU DA MAN!".

Edit: where is going to be a good place to get full resolution (640x480) direct feed footage of the games they'll show? Would Gametrailers.com have them? Streaming makes everything look like crap, after it's done I'll probably want to go through and grab videos of all the games that looked interesting.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Looks OK so far...to be honest I'm pretty disappointed that the racing demo showed the person using the controller sideways, I wonder if they fixed any of the kinks with it that I was worried about.

So lets see, I think we have a new Mario, Metroid Prime 3, Table Tennis and Tennis, some kind of conducting game...what else am I missing?

Edit: no date? That's disappointing, I hate vague statements like "Fourth quarter 2006".

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Why is the person in the MP3 demo still using lock-on? Shouldn't the controller make that a bit unneccissary?

Hmm, Red Steel looked kinda disappointing...the aiming and turning seemed really funky, like the person had a lot of trouble just rotating his character. And the sword combat looks really shallow, it doesn't look like the sword actually follows the controller: you just flick it a direction and it slashes from there. Blocking even looks the same as Oblivion's. I was hoping for a full sword duel where you use correct positioning and precision moves...in the demo the enemy acted like you hit his left side when you slashed at him from the right! I guess I'll have to play it myself and see how it works out.

It did however look pretty good (well, as good as it could on the low quality stream I'm watching, anyway).

Hmm, that sounds interesting, I'll have to check that one out after the show is done. I hope the flight path selection is made pretty versitile, it would be nice being able to totally control your route instead of just choosing left or right paths.

Lacking compared to WHAT?
Compared to how it SHOULD be. I was hoping you'd be able to control the sword directly, instead it looks more like a repackaged Warrior of Middle Earth. But I still want to try it out when it's released.

Ugh, ANOTHER console that goes into "standby mode". Don't these things have real power buttons anymore?!?

Hmm, the 100k stream seems to be having some problems, if anyone is having issues switch over to 300k if you can.

Doh! It's over! Haha.

Ahh well, I guess it wasn't bad, but didn't have nearly as much as I hoped for. In fact, the "surprises" were pretty lame to be honest...and I'm actually a bit worried about the controller now because it seems like it didn't work nearly as well as I thought it would. And they still didn't give a price or date...not a good sign.

Actually, I was more excited about the announcement of a Star Fox DS more than anything.

How ya doing, buddy?

Ditto. The games almost looked too forgiving, will you even need to AIM correctly on the Golf game with the Wii remote? It almost looks like your swing travels on a linear plane and the controller is just used to determine how hard to hit...

Ugh, what did they do to poor Fox.

I'd like to know how the controls on the bottom screen work though. What could those shiny buttons do...

Uhh, the gap looks to be anything BUT small. Graphics are definitely not Nintendo's strong point this generation, which is the reason they want you to focus on the controller. But I don't see how people on a forum about game music can use the argument that aesthetic aspects don't matter to games...

Uhh, I'm a little worried about what they say regarding "upconverting". They say that Mario 64 was "upconverted" to 480p, but shouldn't it be playing 480p natively? It wouldn't make sense to render the game in 320x240 and then upconvert it to 640x480 when they could just run it at 640x480 to begin with. I hope they just didn't know quite what they were talking about.

(The only other game that reached that filesize was Resident Evil 2.) 90% of N64 games are a lowly 8 megabytes. You could store 64 of those. I sincerely doubt anyone wants to download 64 games from the N64's library, given that it didn't have more than about 20-30 really good games.

You're all literally worrying about nothing.
But the problem is that the space being used can quickly add up. VC games alone likely won't take a significant chunk out of the built in memory (unless they make disc-based games downloadable), but you have to remember that they will be sharing the same space as game saves, content downloads, updates, etc. Halo 2's extra maps took up almost 200 megs of space by themselves! Even save games can take up a lot of space, look at past gen games like KOTOR or Otogi. Since Nintendo themselves was pushing that "you can download on the console when it's on standby mode while you sleep", I don't think it would be unlikely that we'll see many titles that take advantage of the ability to add content to the game. 512 megs probably more than enough for people who only buy a few games for the console, but most of the concern is for those of us who buy a few dozen throughout the console's lifetime as well as VC games and get all those extra content packs when they're available.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Uhh, no, it just means that when they have 512MB of space to work with, they'll get lazy and expect you to have no other games saved on it. Look at Madden on the Gamecube.

They said the original 8gig Xbox harddrive added $50 onto the cost when the Xbox was released. The price has probably come down by now, and $100 is just the retail price of the 20GB harddrive, not the cost (you know there's a big markup there)

I do hope they upgrade to at least a gig, having around 700 megs for extra content and 300 megs for game saves and VC games should work out pretty well. But I have to wonder why the flash memory isn't removable, you're pretty much forced to get a memory card if you want to take your saves over to a friend's house now.
