Man, where the hell is Oblivion? I'm sick of playing Geometry Wars(actually no, I lie, best fucking game ever.)

Wasn't this due out in Feburary? Well, it's March now, and there's simply no sign. I'm still kind of sketchy on buying an european 360 - to be released on the 23rd of March(it's only $739.95 of my currency) as I'm not sure if Oblivion will be out by then.

Meanwhile, I'd love it if they fixed the backwards compatibility so I can play Jet Set Radio: Future. While gff was down, I discovered that playing Jet Set Radio(for Dreamcast) via a VGA monitor, with the help of sir VGA adaptor, is basically HDTV quality. If this can be done for the Dreamcast, I'm sure there's VGA compatibility with the 360. It's far cheaper than forking out a few grand for a HDTV.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

GR and purbeast from 360gamesaves.com bring you a great Xbox360 mod project today. Since there is a lack of quality arcade joysticks for the console at this point, we bring you a way to wire up your own! You can use any stick you want, more or less. With DOA4 already out and Street Fighter on the way to the Xbox Live Arcade, you need this mod now more than ever! Enjoy!
Xbox-Scene
I've always wanted to make my own arcade stick.

Once they get Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection properly working with the 360 this tutorial will probably be used in a few years.

I just spent a few hours at my local astore playing some new basketball game for the 360 by EA. It's funny how my local stores manage to have every fucking sports title in the world, and nothing else.

I couldn't even find the title screen. I definitely wasn't impressed by whatever it was.

Microsoft moves 30,000 next-gen consoles down under in first four days on shelves; figures surpass PSP as country's quickest seller.

Last week Australia became the latest country to join the next-gen party when the Xbox 360 made its regional debut on March 23. Like its European and American launches, the Xbox 360 was gobbled up by eager gamers and coasted to a new sales record for the fastest-selling console in the country.

According to reports from Australia, the Xbox 360 sold 30,000 units in its first four days on the market. That number beats the previous record held by Sony's PSP, which tallied 27,000 units out the door for its launch.

The 360 is being sold in two SKUs down under, with the Core package selling for $500 AUD ($353) and the Premium package selling for $649 AUD ($459). In the US, the systems sell for $299 and $399, respectively.

Though the late launch meant that Aussies wouldn't get into the next generation as soon as Americans, the extra time did give them plenty of launch titles to choose from. In fact, the Australian launch lineup looks an awful lot like what was originally supposed to be the US launch lineup, with Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Dead or Alive 4, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion all available on day one.

The retail hiccups found in North America seem to be cured in Australia. No widespread shortages on the scale of America's have been reported, and shop owners are pleased with the results.

"We had some fairly high expectations, and it exceeded our expectations. We're more than happy," Paul English of retailer Harvey Norman told Australian IT.
Oh, australia you silly thing.

I've been told that by using an xbox 360 VGA cable, and a CRT monitor which supports 1280x, you can run xbox 360 games at 720p. Is this true?

If so, awesome. I'd like to get a 360 for Viva Pinata, Chromehounds and Gears of War but I've put it on an infinite hold due to the fuss over high definitions. Acer told me it'd be wise to get a HDTV for a 360, but ultimately I don't want to start the next generation that way.

Also, when the fuck are they going to add Panzer Dragoon Orta and JSRF to their update lists? Sigh. Anyway, I'm in two mind's whether to purchase one, or hold off for a Wii.

I dunno, but viewing high definition trailers of 360 games is great. My maximum resolution on this monitor can't do 1080i though, but I don't really mind.

I'm surprised at the amount of detail Gears of War has. Oh, and Oblivion looks great (not half as good as Gears of War) as well.

I'm looking forward to Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata, they both look like great RPGs. I've played through the demo a few times.

Also interested in Beautiful Katamari. I think people are easily forgetting about that title.

I wouldn't buy one second hand unless it's really really cheap and comes with some games. I'd take out the extra warranty on a new unit.

Probably wouldn't bother with the Core either, since you can't download anything which would pretty much rule out the enjoyment of Gold or well, even Silver on Live.

Alright guys, gff's xbox crew claims to know their stuff, so let's see what you've got:

Using a 220v power brick on a japanese 360 console which is 110v. According to this forum here, it's perfectly safe to use a PAL xbox 360 power supply (which is 220v) on a japanese 360:

The Asian Xbox 360 comes with a 220v power supply with a standard three pin UK plug, so no stepdown or socket adapter is required at all. It's 100% plug and play.

The Japanese and American 360's have 110v power supplies and need a beefy 300w stepdown. You can also use a UK power supply with an American or Japanese console and it will run without needing a stepdown, but spare UK power supplies can be expensive to source so you're probably better off with the stepdown.
Question is, can I use a 220v power brick to run a japanese 360? Or, would I be better off buying a step-down transformer? It might be unnecessary. This is only a forum FAQ, I can't seem to find anywhere else that mentions this.

I phoned around, one store says if the forum says it's okay, go for it, one store says don't because the xbox 360's power is internal (?), and Microsoft's support line says it's alright but I thought I should just be cautious and ask here as well.

What, EDF doesn't have any cooperative online support? That sucks. And yeah NZ ISPs are bad, australian ones are better but you're still looking at 250-350 ms ping. It's more of a distance issue, nothing can be done about that really.

Oh well, the game is still tempting to buy just so I can shoot Godzilla in the dick.

Basically yes, the 360 is dominated by racing/sports/FPS. If you want fighters or RPGs, buy a PS2, they're much cheaper.

But isnt 90% of all statistics made up on the spot? I remember hearing that somewhere.
But someone actually researched the current 360 games as of August which have a metacritic rating of 80+ and their percentages.

Oh my god I can't believe someone is bring the HERE HAVE A PERCENT SIGN IT FLEW OUT MY FUCKING ASSHOLE YES PERCENTAGES ARE PRESENTED INSTANTLY WITH NO RESEARCH AT ALL thing.

Also, according to that graph, a good 56% of the 360 consists specifically of sports, shooting and racing, so if you don't like competitive online gaming and if you're more interested in puzzle, fighting, sRPG, RPG, etc like I said, don't waste your time with a 360.

Just as a heads-up, Xbox Originals are region-locked. No Puyo Puyo Fever for Ameri-gaijins.

Xbox Originals are region locked, d'oh! - Xbox 360 Fanboy
Oh that's nasty, the ability to download it just VANISHING in front of you once you've been caught out. I mean, I'd like to play Psychonauts, but the PAL version is 5.3 GB, and the US version is 3.xx GB. It's probably fully voiced in all 5 required languages for your typical PAL game.

Psychonauts isn't even on the Japanese marketplace. There's Magatama and Puyo Puyo Fever instead. Neither of those which I'm really interested in. *sigh*

On the bright side this means that undoubtedly JSRF, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Otogi 1 and 2, Ninja Gaiden Black, and so on, will reach Xbox Originals. Are they going to be updating every <certain time> with new games like Virtual Console?

I'll try to return it to a female employee that doesn't know squat about gaming.
Oh wow, you're lucky Devo is currently away from the forums.

If anything a female isn't going to buy that bullshit. They're likely to check serials and seriously doubt your brother "packed the wrong Xbox". And since it's WalMart you can't really tell if they know anything about gaming. It really depends if they're doing their job or not. Just send it into Microsoft and be patient, I mean it's not like your games are going anywhere. And a good 360 game might be released while you wait.

Raiden Fighters Aces trailer hit the North American marketplace today, perhaps implying a North American release? Oh dear sweet jesus, please say yes. PLEASE.
Where is Raiden DX.

They're making a compilation of Raiden games but they're not including the best of the series? I don't believe it. I thought this game was going to be, you know, non-XBLA and an actual retail release.

Ah, right.

I might buy it. I mean, the only other shooting game I've seen for the 360 (I said shooting, not SHOOTAN) is Shikigami no Shiro III, which came out mid December. And that was on the Wii and PC too. When is Ikaruga getting on the Arcade? Whatever, I wonder what made them decide it'd be a smart move to release a retail game of a niche genre on a console that's failing in Japan. Poor dudes.

Hahaha, I knew something like that would pop up. It says "any mode" though, so it isn't as absurd as the "Complete the game without using a continue" achievement that Metal Slug 3 has.

I might try that. I don't really give a shit about achievements but thank god I bought a 360 to PS2 adapter because I really wouldn't want to play this game with an analog stick.

Actually Metal Slug 3's multiplayer is really shitty. It's the kind of lag you would receive if you were playing over netplay or a really laggy Ragnarok Online server. Your movements are logged and if you decide to quickly change, you can't. It's annoying as fuck.

As for Ikaruga, I've waited so long for it to be released that I don't care about it any more. It was exciting to hear about at the time, but it's taken forever and I really don't know why.

I wonder if it'll have TATE support for HDTVs (haha, I'm hilarious)
