Oh, and the heiroglyphics. They still don't really have any purpose. Whoever put them there is an idiot. But not as idiotic as the person who set up the system. I figured that there would be a reason for the button needing to be pressed by a human as opposed to the process being automated. I'd sooner trust an automated system to discharge a giant magnet then some people who are going to be trapped in that bunker for more than a year. I mean, Kelvin's friend (forgot the name) blew his own brains out, I'm guessing because he was bored as fuck with the process of putting in the numbers. Whoever created the system had to see that kind of thing coming and should have known that humans aren't psychologically stable enough to consistently handle a task that could destroy the planet (presumably). And you know what still gets me. The map on the blast door. It had no purpose either. Originally I theorized that whoever was drawing it was hiding it from his partner in the bunker, but then I found out both Kelvin and his friend and Desmond were all aware of it. SO WHY HIDE IT? Why make it only visible with a blacklight when you can get out a piece of paper and a pen and get to sketching, and hang it up on the wall? Is there no paper? Then carve it on the fucking floor. But why make it invisible? The only reason I can think of is to save the revelation until late in the season. Double Post:
Also, lately there has been increased talk of the Mapinguari. I've been trying to find the pic of one that someone recently got off the hansofoundation website that shows one. I thought that the Mapinguari was just a red herring, but since this whole Lost Experience thing is serious business, I'm wondering if the Mapinguari actually has something to do with the island, whether or not it's the actual monster. Oh yeah here is the pic: ![]() I was speaking idiomatically.

Presumably, every metallic object from around the planet gathers at that one point.
(I have no idea.) What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Actually Aardark, I remember the first season being good and have, for this entire season, been waiting for it to get good again, but it hasn't.
Now I just hate the show; my goal is to destroy it. FELIPE NO |
You sound pretty annoyed.
I'm just wondering, what is your opinion of the show? Did you find Season 2 to be excellent? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Complaining and making fun of stuff is always good fun, especially when that thing still has fans. It has to be one of my favorite things to do, and I won't lie. Double Post:
Also JJ Abrams (or was it Damon) saying this would be the best season finale of all time. Okay, even people who liked the finale don't think that. Why do they hype so hard. Jam it back in, in the dark.

According to the most recent podcast we saw the monster in this season a few times but didn't know it. So I'm basically like, what? Supposedly they had "more stories to tell about the monster" but didn't get around to it. (Because this season was very to-the-point and had 0 filler episodes, right.)
I'm mostly confused because I'm having trouble thinking of what it could have appeared as or caused that was actually cool. If it turns out to be able to somehow turn into animals (horse, green Hurleybird), I will be disappointed, as I always regarded this as one of the dumber theories. I don't really like the idea of it becoming a manifestation of everyone's own fears, either, but that's not as bad of an idea. I hope it's not what induces dreams upon everyone, either - unless that simply turns out to be one of its abilities. None of those even would really explain why we sometimes see it uproot trees, roar, etc. I dislike people saying the monster is meh. It was part of what made the show during the pilot (besides just good writing). Up until that point the show was just a serious Gilligan's island. The monster is what initially brought the show into the realm of sci-fi (sort-of-horror). It basically set up the fact that the island was fucking weird, and I definitely liked it as potential danger. For a time the Others were considered dangerous but now that we know they're just dudes who may or may not capture you, that sense of danger is diminished. (They really directed the first few scenes involving the Others to make them seem like deranged, murderous, zombie-like drones. And let's not forget the mysterious whispers.) So for me, the monster is essential. Even if they tell us what it is it will still be awesome, provided it actually is a threat and isn't super anti-climax the-monster-destroys-diseased-trees-to-keep-the-island-pretty~ (<--I don't really expect it to be bad to that extent.) There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Well I'm hoping Season 3 will be better than Season 2. They already promised the monster will be back, which is win.
I am a little weary of scenes taking place off the island, but maybe if they do it smartly, like in lieu of flashbacks, it'll work out well. It's interesting they bring up "underworld." With the monster being hinted at being called "Cerberus" and trying to drag Locke down a hole (which presumably led to somwhere besides death), and "save yourself from Hell" being written on the blast door map, I'm starting to think there's some kind of "hell" on this island, and am very interested in knowing what it is and why it's called that. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
On the blast door map.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I haven't been following it. I lost track. Is there some comprehensive website that lists/links to all of the interesting stuff I can find?
I like how this DJ Dan character just seems to be a propagator of foilers, like Mapinguari/nanobots/dharmashark (did you know that wasn't even supposed to be in the episode and was removed from repeats?). I was speaking idiomatically. |
That kind of stuff bothers me too. It's pretty frustrating when we're supposed to pick up on little things but they mess up with little things. For example there was a lot of discussion over the fact that the Desmond/Penny photo showed Penny in white originally, then showed her in black even though it was supposed to be the same photo. Some people took this as part of the black/white duality dealy, but of course that photo was edited in the repeat to make her shirt white again. Sigh.
The funny thing is, horse trainer's hand getting caught in the shot will get analyzed by crazy fans anyway. Like, hey, guys, Kate has peripheral vision :/ Although that's another mistake I don't know how they let slip by. It by no means took a trained eye to see that hand in the right side of the frame. I don't know what the big deal about the dharmashark was, anyway. I mean, I can't imagine it would contradict future plots; maybe DHARMA was fucking around branded a shark at some point for some reason, lol. They've obviously been screwing around with polar bears. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
FELIPE NO |
The Nine sounds like it might be interesting in itself, really. In fact the plot itself reminds me sort of like LOST, and it especially reminds me of The Bridge of San Luis Rey.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I think there's a recap aka "clip episode" on tonight with Season 3 starting next Wednesday ::nooneishyped::.
LOST Experience ended and it pretty much turned out to explain the numbers and some other trivial but sometimes interesting things. A lot of people were disappointed with the ending. I was never following it in the first place because I got tired of trying to find all the easter eggs on flash sites, so I didn't really care. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
They said the monster would be back. It's interesting that they even included it at all because they've left it out of other clip episodes. I'd think they could spend one second just showing it, but that would be hard to fit into the main plot.
I thought the narration (that was Fake-Henry's voice, right?) was awkard. It was just poorly phrased and almost like a middle-schooler wrote it. I watched parts of it but I found it sort of ridiculous so I stopped. I was mostly bored. I think what happened at the hatch will be revealed fairly early, maybe within the first few episodes. If I'm not mistaken one of the first few episodes deals, somehow, with Spoiler:
How ya doing, buddy? |
But isn't the show broadcast in HD anyway?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I didn't know people still really used VHS. You should invest in a recording device like a (hi definition) TiVO if you record television so much. I personally don't watch enough TV for it to make a difference.
I'm interested in knowing how many of this season's TV shows will be put on HD-DVD (or Blu Ray, whatever). I already mentioned that it would be cool for LOST to be on HD-DVD at The Fuselage's "Season 3 DVDs Wishlist" thread. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Well they alluded to the meaning of the numbers way back when they started mentioning the fictional-fiction author Gray Troupe and his book "The Valenzetti Equation". In one of the LOST websites there was mention of something along the lines of "what if a set of numbers could predict the end of the world?" at which point I kind of figured that's what the numbers were all about.
What's odd is that the numbers aren't really the equation but rather the result of the equation. I want to know what the equation is, if it actually means anything. I'm wondering if the core values correspond to some aspect of nature? On the blast door map there are various inscriptions that say "CV I", "CV II", etc, which most people now think represnet "Core Value x". So what is so special about these areas of the island that they somehow have to do with a core value? I'm interested in seeing how this plays out. DHARMA was supposedly created to change one of the core values, ie one of the numbers, and thus alter the fate of mankind. It makes me wonder if it's going to turn out that their effort to change their fate will ultimately lead them to it. Or if the fate can be changed at all. Maybe mankind won't really die out but something different will happen. Maybe they'll end up changing one of the core values doing something corny. Maybe all of mankind will die out except for the people on the island (bringing us back to that old "adam and eve" type of theory). This is an example of how you can answer a mystery and leave the audience guessing but not frustrated. I'm hoping Season 3 will be better than Season 2, but I'm wondering if a show can recover from a bad season. The only thing I can imagine making LOST excellent again is JJ Abrams writing all the scripts. (Seriously why can't he write all the scripts?) I was speaking idiomatically. |
