I was rather surprised after reading this review. I really enjoyed the game, but then again, as I thought about it...
I was playing the game during one of those "off" periods where I really don't want any depth or complexity in a game, I just want to be able to space out for a couple hours and kill things and break things. DFII was incredibly story-wise and I always find myself wanting to migrate back to that when I'm in the mood for something that requires a bit more involvement out of me =/. How ya doing, buddy?
