What exactly happens during a lunar eclipse anyway? I couldn't even see it tonight, 'cause I can't see the moon at all from my apt windows >_>

This one happens to be a full lunar eclipse. It means the Earth is in direct alignment with the Sun and Moon, so we cast a perfect shadow over the Moon. Light bending around the Earth from the Sun causes a nice reddish colour effect that you.... well, didn't see haha.

EDIT2: boo, this is a rather stinky pic. For a focal length of 300mm on a nice DSLR I didn't get a very nice result. I blame light pollution D:
