Not a lot of surprises, as people have said. The biggest non-surprise is The Shield getting ignored once again. It's a shame that it didn't get a nod for Best Drama, and a travesty that Walton Goggins didn't get a nod for his tear-jerking pitch-perfect performance this season. The Globes have never really done much for me, so I'll save my heavy-drinking-level disappointment for The Emmys, when The Shield will probably get ignored again.
I'm glad Downey Jr. got a nod for Tropic Thunder, though Ledger is sure to walk away with that award without much trouble. Anna Paquin, wow lol. Surprised to see In Bruges taking a few nominations. My roommate loved it but I never got around to seeing it. It's rare enough that a film released before October gets any sort of award consideration, let alone one that kinda came and went like In Bruges. Anybody here see it? Jam it back in, in the dark. |

Not at all surprised by all the blowjobbery that Slumdog got, but was honestly shocked when it won Best Original Score. Seriously now, that's ridiculous. The highlight of the show for me was Sasha Baron Cohen taking a potshot at Guy Ritchie and getting booed by everyone. Fucking brilliant. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
