I like the standby mode idea. I'm sick of sitting through intro screens for all my systems. Nintendo is definitely on the right track with this.

How ya doing, buddy?

WiiSports sounds sweet. Simple titles will be a nice way to get adjusted to the system for newbies.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

That kid looks PISS SCARED. Miyamoto is a tiny bastard.

Can't say I don't envy that kid though. Playing on the Wii for the first time with the Nintendo gods? Good LORD.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Reggie is going to destroy the Kodak Theater if he loses.

That looks like so much fun though... It really looks like a good time.

Only things I wished to have seen were the Virtual Console and the price. Other than that, a great conference. No beating around the bush, no bullshit.

I expect that some kinks still need to be worked out of the controller, so, I would wait until we get hands-on impressions before we give judgement. It looks real solid though.

I wonder if Mario will be playable tomorrow... I'm interested to see how you control Mario this time around.

Does anyone know if Super Mario Galaxy will be a launch title or not?

While we're on the subject, does anyone know for certain what games are launch titles?

It's exciting if you've ever played DK Jungle Beat, which I assume you haven't.

The bongos are an extremely fun way to play games, believe it or not. I can see them working seamlessly in a racing game.

I'm not entirely crazy about the placement of the ZL and ZR buttons. The glory of L1/L2 R1/R2 is that you can use them with seperate fingers. I guess they're avoiding that design for something simpler.

I dunno, I really like that controller. It looks like it's going to be as comfortable as the SNES controller was, and that one was fucking prime.

I hope the RE Wii isn't some lackluster Dead Aim port or something. A full-fledged RE5 with Wii aiming would be fucking amazing.

The light gun looks NASTY.

I only wish that instead of simply plugging in the wiimote you could attatch it like a clip. That would be kick ass.

I actually skipped out on playing any video games up until PS2 came out because I didn't like the stupid two-dimentional graphics. I thought the NES and SNES were stupid because they had bad graphics.

Anyway

IGN gives us some hands-on details on Zelda Wii. Looks like we can put our fears to rest - http://revolution.ign.com/articles/707/707152p1.html

With how well this show is going for Nintendo, I think alot of developers and publishers will want to take the jump to Wii.
There are other reaons to jump on the Wii bandwagon - cost. Check out this small piece from http://www.nintendojo.com/infocus/vi...php?1147230320

Quote:
Ubi Director Commends Wii, Shuns PS3

The creative director of Ubisoft Montreal had harsh words for Sony during an E3 workshop focusing on next-generation game design.

Clint Hocking, the creative director behind titles such as Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory explained how he was disappointed by Sony's attempts to copy technologies from the other consoles. After referring to Sony's mimicking of Xbox Live, and then duplicating components of Nintendo's motion sensitive controller, Hocking paused in frustration.

"How much more 'me too' can [Sony] be?," he asked.

Earlier in the discussion Hocking attacked the industry's strategy to up the ante in visuals significantly with each console.

It's a "fundamental problem of approach" to continue to push for stronger graphics, he said. He argued such an approach puts game developers in situations where they have to be factory workers. Assemble art texture here, model texture shades here. Repeat.

Further, Hocking claimed the adoption rate of high-definition televisions is so low, that the approach wastes resources on art that many customers won't even appreciate.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Hocking applauded Wii's new controller interface. If it can meet the technical accuracy promised by Nintendo, it can open up the creative minds of game designers, he said. While graphics may add emotion, Wii's new controller interface is more likely to bring emotion directly to the player.
I dunno, sounds logical to me.

Wii = $249?

http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archi...s-new-details/

Quote:
This article was taken down last night at the request of EGM’s writing staff, but now that the Nintendo conference is over and spoken for, we’re throwing it back up here. For those of you that saw it last night and watched the keynote, take special note of how many of the facts turned out to be true.

Reliable NeoGAF poster koam has apparently grabbed ahold of the latest EGM, which spills the beans on some great Wii details - but this IS the Internet, so as usual, please take the news with a gigantic grain of salt. You know the drill by now. The general recap of the information said, however is:

- $249 Price tag
- Virtual Console (we knew this)
- 3d Controller (we knew this)
- ALWAYS online (console is always online, even when OFF)
- Built in speaker on the controller
- No improved graphics on Virtual Console (as in, they aren’t redoing the models, doesn’t talk about framerates and such).
- TG16 will have it’s 1st party games out at launch, 3rd party will come later as demand increases.
- Estimated prices for the VC are “a few dollars for NES, $5 for SNES and $10 for N64″
- VC games are pro-scan enabled.
- $250 “seems appropriate”
- More 3rd party exclusives than the Cube
I hope it's true!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I predicted $249 but was hoping for $200.

Still, $249 is still $150 less than the cheapest competition. You can't argue with that price!

Smash Bros. Want list-

Megaman / Protoman
Megaman X / Zero
Simon Belmont
Bionic Commando Guy (does he have a name?)
Vectorman
Locke (imagine him stealing items from opponents!)

I can't think of any more off the top of my head.

How ya doing, buddy?
