Because you need some method of playing. You can either do the following:
1) Always play in a browser 2) Install macromedia flash 3) Install Media Player Classic Jam it back in, in the dark. |

Likely then it attempts to load another file (which is on the site somewhere) it can't find, which is why you get nothing.
