Veronica Mars
This show is great. I have been getting the DVD's from Netflix, and when I throw one in I have to keep watching until it's done.
I haven't seen more than a few episodes of Smallville, so I don't know how it compares, as others have mentioned above, but Mars has a really well written script, with an engrossing plot, deep, multifaceted characters, and enough snappy dialogue to keep Joss Whedon fans happy. The more I watch, too, the more I realize Veronica (the character, not Kristen Bell) may just be the perfect woman - although I wouldn't ever want to piss her off. Jam it back in, in the dark.
