I am and I pumped & hopeful for this conference. Don't let us down Nintendo.

(judging from the Zelda: TP thread, I don't think they will...)

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Quick Prediction.....

I was just washing dishes for a half hour and during this time I had a revelation. What game was one of the biggest of last year that we have not heard a whisper about?

Resident Evil.

Oh, and if you remember, there was no RE yesterday at the Sony conference. Which means only two choices remain. 1) Capcom is in bed with the Xbox 360, or 2) Capcom is in bed with Nintendo's Wii.....

Prediction = RE5 will be seen in the next hour

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Did you guys see Fire Emblem???!!

Heck yes!

I'm sold. And it looks like I'll be buying a Wii to play Zelda this holiday season!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Actually, I was more excited about the announcement of a Star Fox DS more than anything.
I don't mind the date and price unknowns. It'll make Sony sweat....

Yeah I was hoping for something a bit more surprising too. Speaker and WiFi Connect 24 were cool but not huge announcements.

Wiimote didn't work well?! Did you see that one guy pickup and start playing Tennis well in like 1 min?

They definitely did a good presentation. They presented there ideas and concept and blew the doors off it.

No smash bros

No real online games

27 playable games tomorrow!!!! Good lord, I'm glad I'm not trying to preview all of these...

I was speaking idiomatically.

What I luved is that I might be able to play and enjoy games with people.

Like real people that aren't uber-dorks. Like my parents or just people I know. I mean obviously ANYBODY can play that tennis game. I mean you can topspin or back spin by twisting the controller?! How f-ng sweat is that!!!!!

And yes some of the graphics were so-so. But did you see Fire Emblem!?!?! Holy crap! And FF:CC was beautiful too.

So much to be excited about.

How ya doing, buddy?

First pics of light gun and sensor bar.
Notice the extra long cord for the sensor bar.
Also note the analog stick attached to the top of the light gun, perfect for one handed fps with gun in hand.

EDIT:

PS.... The Wii owns

LOL. So your definition of "great" seems to be uber-grafix and blood/gore? LAME

Don't get me wrong, I like Gears Of War's demo reel, but I'm not so close minded to negate a game like Red Steel based on such superficial elements as "uber-grafix" and "gore".

Do we really know this? I mean, its really very speculative. They named RE for gamecube before the system was released right? So what is different about this? This could easily be RE5 and all the better for it because the wiimote is pretty much perfect for it. I hope to God that it is RE5.

Sure SqEnix is using sideprojects, but that doesn't mean everybody will. Sonic, Madden, Red Steel, Call of Duty 3. With how well this show is going for Nintendo, I think alot of developers and publishers will want to take the jump to Wii.

The Wiimote powers the nunchka doesn't it? That means the Wiimote should power this too (i think).

On a good note, by pluging in the classic controller, that should bring the cost down. A dummy plugin controller is ALOT cheaper than a stand alone wireless one. This brings the pack-in idea w/ the classic more probable.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Details are just now rolling in, but we have confirmed the following playable characters:

# Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid)
# Zero Suit Samus (Metroid)
# Meta-Knight (Kirby)

More as it breaks.

Figured I'd post this hear just so you all are better informed.

http://media.revolution.ign.com/arti...93/vids_1.html

Matt Cassamassina: "What about the classic controller and the light zapper? Are these gonna be something sold seperately?"

Perrin Kaplan: "We have not made a final decision yet, I think that they will probably be sold seperately, in that, the nunchuka and the wiimote will be part of the pack-in."

I was speaking idiomatically.

I just remembered something...

You might not have to worry about savegame space taking up the 512MB flash. Remember this?

http://media.revolution.ign.com/arti...g_3233326.html

Oh yeah, memory card ports. So it is quite possible that the Wii games could save to the same memory cards we've been using the past 5 years!!

My comments on Sony and MS's comments on Wii.....

I think the reason that both sides said this was because they knew that Nintendo really "won" E3. Nintendo had everyone's eye and delivered in a HUGE way. There is no question about this.

What Peter Moore and Phil Harrison said was them trying to gain attention back and to distance themselves from Nintendo. They can see that Wii is far superior innovatively and creatively, whereas their consoles have horsepower and eye-candy. They know they can't convince everyone to not buy a Wii. But they can easily convince people that they have a product you can't get on Wii, which is hard-core gaming.

These consoles really are barely in competition. There is really no question in my mind, the Wii will sell more consoles than the X360 and will DEFINITELY sell more than the PS3 (which I think is more than guarenteed to fail). Now this doesn't mean that every publisher will start making all their titles for Wii (e.g. MGS4, FFXIII, GTA4, etc). What this does mean is that Nintendo is gonna making crap loads of money, and all of us are going to enjoy gaming again like the Atari days, fun simple games.

Why is Wii going to sell alot? People do want something new, and Nintendo is the only one offering truly something new. Throwing the football with Madden, pointing the bow and arrow w/ Zelda, accurate gun aiming, steering wheel racing... This IS revolutionary.

And it will only grow from here. Can you imagining playing Fight Night Round 4 with two wiimotes as your fists? How about RE5 with accurate aiming and lighting effects? How about RTS games finally easily usable with mouse-like control? How about a true sword fighting game? Lightsabers? Airplane flying using the wiimote as a flightstick? The possibilities are truly endless...

Whiners like devil may cry, and Jacky boy who had this great line in the Best of E3 thread,
Quote:
Yes not everyone wants to look like a young child with down syndrom while playing their videogames.
just dont get it and they won't until someone forces them to play it cause they are stubborn and NOT open minded.

We'll see what you think when you actually try it.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Don't worry about them. It's their loss, not Nintendo's. Nintendo probably could care less about morons like them anyway. They'll get more marketshare by NOT trying to hook them in.
Totally agreed.

Many gamerz will say "look at the neewbs playing Wii!"
But the entire mass market will say "look at the nerdy gamerz twiddling their thumbs!"

I'm so glad Nintendo decided to risk it all to bring us something new. If nothing else, their efforts in this way warrant a Wii purchase.

My favorite anti-Nintendo bias was this wonderful editorial at IGN.
Quote:
In the end, this is just another facet of the universal truth that when a console becomes a mass marketshare leader, all manner of games will appear on it. And although the Wii almost definitely will not become the lead platform in the US, Sony's recent price announcements and Xbox's continued impotence have placed Nintendo into an excellent position in Japan. Could the land of the rising yen be the ultimate developer's playground for new ideas and classic titles? If Nintendo sells enough Wii, we'll get both.
What reason or proof is there to back up this statement? Only that they haven't won the past two generations? There is more proof that it will do extremely well than that it won't. The last time Nintendo had a Zelda and Mario game inside the launch window was the NES and SNES and we all know that those led there generations. Honestly, I don't understand why people put so much faith in "Playstation". Like it's the god of game consoles and therefore all else is sub-par.

There is only two reasons why PS3 is even worth thinking about over Wii. Let me say this loud and clear: WITHOUT MGS4 or FFXIII, PS3 WOULD DIE. Two games to sell an entire system generation. That is BS. Sure you could argue that Nintendo does the same thing with Zelda-Mario, but consider this; NINTENDO OWNS THEIR WINNING FRANCHISES. I just wish that SqEnix and Konami would go multi-platform with these titles; then may the best console/first-party titles win.

That's the funny part.

This industry turns on a dime. I mean 10 years ago (approximately), Nintendo was king headed into a new gaming generation. 10 years. Not like 30 or 40 years ago. 10. But now, all the world turns on Playstation? And Nintendo is barely on alot of people's radar.

What's most interesting to me is the comments such as that IGN editorial that write off Wii, because "the playstation name is huge". That is BS in this market. Gamers are fickle. They go where the games are. Nintendo has ALOT more games & better games in the launch window, should have little to no shortage issues, better price, reliable hardware, totally unique exclusive gameplay... I mean honestly if the Wii was Sony's idea and it was label PS3, the media would be going "ZOMG Sony PS3 is the best thing to ever come to planet earth!!!%!&!&%!&%"

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Good news folks...

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...top_world_news

Quote:
The company, creator of the Super Mario character, is counting on the release of the Wii console to win market share in home gaming from Sony Corp. and Microsoft Corp. The player won't cost more than 25,000 yen, said Yoshihiro Mori, Nintendo's senior managing director, at a news conference in Osaka. The company expects to ship 6 million Wii consoles this fiscal year, and about 17 million software games for the device.
By the way 25,000yen is roughly $225 US, $295 AUS, and $174 EURO.

I am happy cause now I'm sure I will own a Wii this holiday season. And I think we are all happy!!

I am so excited for this news. This puts the cherry on top. We obviously know it will be out in Japan, Australia, & the Americas by Christmas (Cassamassina - Perrin interview), so this just finishes Nintendo's brilliance and brings the Wii to be the hottest item this coming holiday season.

He did state that it wouldn't be more than 25000 yen. We have to assume he means in Japan, but this should also translate to the US (please, please, please). BTW, the article I linked said nothing of a specific US price comment. Either way, I just hope they don't get cocky and try to sell this thing for $249 US. That is a big difference from $199. More in the head than in reality. $199 or less can potentially be an impulse buy in America, but 249 isn't for most.

This news is going to hit the game community like a nuke.
