don't know why but I never figured out fraps despite its simple look.
Look up a program called SnagIt. This lets you record anything off your screen with an optional audio option and it lets you choose a border. Meaning that you get to choose what part of the desktop you want to record. It's very user friendly with help bubbles that pop up before and after recording. It doesn't have the greatest video quality (I actually haven't messed with the video options) but it gets the job done nicely. Not sure which is the newest version but I have snagit 8 How ya doing, buddy?  New Record! |
