That's definitely not the current system. If it were, my 6 posts prior to making this one would put me in level 3, but I'm currently still sitting in level 1.
Plus, in order to get to level 25, you'd need log(x^3) = 24, log(x) = 8, or x = 100,000,000 posts.

The parentheses are mismatched in bobo's equation; I believe he left off one at the very beginning or inserted an extra one after the three. I think the formula should be:
log(POSTCOUNT) ^ 3 + 1
I took a few random high, medium, and low posters and tested that formula, and everything agrees with the displayed level numbers.
