Robots versus Aliens

The great Pirate/Ninja debate has always seemed a bit silly and pointless to me, as both are relics of the past and thus no situation where a real life pirate could encounter a real life ninja, both of them then doing battle, could ever come to pass - and that kind of takes the fun out of it.

Robots versus Aliens however is the debate of the future. In a couple of years, planet Earth will undoubtedly be besieged by the first wave of extraterrestrials wanting a piece, and more will follow. Our robotic creations will be charged with warding off the attacks and sending the aliens home with their most-likely-prehensile-if-they've-got-them tails between their legs.

I understand if you're human I'm giving more sway to the robot side of the argument, so let's say in the upcoming wars there will be room for alien sympathisers, who have bargained to work on their side in exchange for money, power, and virgins in the Aliens' new order.

So what's better? What's your favourite Robot/Alien from fiction (or non-fiction; I know ASIMO has his fans), and why is it better than somebody elses favourite Alien/Robot?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well I once skirted a theory about that, called the Singularity. I don't know the ins and outs because so far I haven't been bothered enough, but here's the wikipedia article

There's nowhere I can't reach.
