The most important thing I think is because people only buy retrogames out of nostalgia. The SNES games are fucking expensive now, because everyone remembers Zelda from their childhood and wants one. When we grow old, our kids will have no interest in those crappy old consoles, and play what they grew up with, and the price will drop.
I have lots of videogame consoles, but stuff older than NES I don't care about at all*. I've never experienced one*, probably because I am too young for it*. I think the price will drop when it gets 'too old' for the generation. Who wants old stuff that sucks, if you never experienced "live"?
*c64 and amiga does not count.
Oh, and I've seen Link to the past for at least £130 on auction here (1600NOK).
