Well, Sens got a goalie and ditched Hasek, that was a good move. Signed Redden and Spezza, also good moves. I'm still upset over losing Chara though. That's a big space to fill for whomever is up to the task.

I'm sad to see Yzerman retire but I think its his time, he had a fantastic career.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Nah, I've made plenty of posts before that had nothing to do with the sens, they're just not as interesting. I just don't have much to say regarding the happenings in the league right now. Yeah, I could have made an attempt at a hilarious GM Garth Snow joke (it wouldn't have been funny anyhow), or I could have made a pointless comment of the fact that Hasek is still playing despite having injured himself out of both the Olympics and the last season but that's neither something I'm very good nor something the thread needs more of. I'd have only end up coming off more asinine then I already do.

Besides, all of the four (maybe five?) people who actually read this thread know more about the trades and singings that are happening then I do. I've been around I just don't feel the need to be "hay guys sens signed neil and shaffer, party tiem" when you'll know by the time the season starts up again anyhow.

It doesn't really matter if I post, clearly you guys will keep the thread alive while I'm gone

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well it's nice to have a break from hearing about Crosby with all this hype around Malkin, I certainly hope he can live up to expectations.

What a way to open the season. 4-1 game against our rivals works for me. I must admit, I was concerned about having Gerber in net for the opening game but he was very impressive. What I saw of Antoine Vermette stunned me, where last season he was fast and accurate, tonight he was sloppy and missed a majority of his passes and shots. That penalty shot was bullshit. Sundin had already shot the puck, not w penalty shot. Volchenkov deserved a penalty but that call was still crap. We still won so I'm not as mad as I might have been. Rematch back home tomorrow night, hoping it goes as well as this game did.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Oh dear, we are playing terribly. Honestly, we deserve to be losing 5-0. I feel like I'm watching the Binghamton Sens. Phillips has given it away at least 4 times in the last 5 minutes of play. COME BACK CHARA D<

Ronz, I have MSN but the connection here at school is so laggy I can rarely send any messages, if at all. Since I can't reply, I don't go on all that often....but message received

If we play like that again then we'll be lucky if our season is classified as just "difficult".

Well fuck, 6-0. ATTN: Sens, WHO THE FUCK WAS THAT PASS FOR?

yeah, it was just one loss, but the way they played was terrible. I'm not dropping my loyalty or anything and I did say "if we play like that again". Even the biggest fan has to admit that we reeked tonight.

also, go Caucks 3-1 over Detroit!

I like how the girl on the far left seems to have no clue whatsoever what's going on around her from the look on her face.

I can't really comment on the last sens game because I was out of town, without a TV and I missed it. It's a shame we lost, hopefully we'll do better next time. I must say that I was impressed with Luongo in that shoot out vs. the Wild. That was an amazing save, it's unfortunate they lost like that though.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

That was the best hit I've seen in a while. It was even better becasuse Hamel saw it coming and still got hammered. I thought it was a pretty good game, although a little more coordination between the players would have been nice. I cannot believe some of the saves that Kiprusoff pulled off. Now I remember why I liked him so much last season. Emery was looking really good too though, I still think he should be our number one goalie.

Ottawa looking OK against the Habs but I'd still say that Montréal is outplaying us. 2-1 so far, but that was a very luck goal.

Did anyone else notice Don Cherry's attire in HNIC? I think the hot pink boa was a little much though.

EDIT: Emery is amazing. I loved watching him in the shootouts. Forget Gerber, Emery #1. We really need to work on our power play thougyh. We'gone something like 17 PPs without a goal and considering how strong we were last year, I don't think Chara being gone could make that much of a difference.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Chara >>>> Redden D:

I was just getting back into my whiney "why god, why did we trade Havlat away?" mood, especially after that last game of ours (I'm looking at you Spezza) but then I saw the news about injuring himself, yet again! For someone so impressive he's pretty damn fragile. I certainly hope nobody around here is a Blackhawks fan.

How ya doing, buddy?

Thank god they've split up Spezza and Heatly, they were leaning on each other too much. I think 8-1 is enough of a sign that the move was effective.

I wonder if having a new coach and GM will help the Flyers any... I doubt it.

True, but they stopped putting them together all the time, they've switched up the lines so they weren't always playing together. Before, they were just playing with each other, they weren't really using the rest of their line and they were getting very little results from the play, so Murray had them switched for a bit. Maybe it was mostly for their practice, but whatevery they did clearly worked.

Alfie's been moving around for a while now, started at the end of the last season.

This is kinda off the current topic but is alyone a Calgary fan? I haven't seen much of them play this year but from what I saw when they played us was that Kiprusoff looked amazing.

First I get the thread name changed, now I'm in the hockey news. Where will I strike next?? I must have that picture Capo.

Wow, I don't know what Murray said to those boys after our game against Colorado but keep it coming. I've been busy all evening with our production but I heard that we played amazingly, we even chased Raycroft. Not bad, now I just hope we can keep it up for more then 2 games.

I heard that Malkin's goal was amazing, I can't believe I missed it!! I'll have to keep a close eye on the highlights.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So that's...what, the third game in a row where the Sens have given up a good lead? I don't understand how they can start out so strong and then just...stop. It just doesn't make sense, we were so much better then this last year.

I'm trying but nothing I'm doing seems to have any effect whatsoever! I wear the special hat, I wore my sens sweater, I even listenned to the game in class! What more can I do? I know that leafs are doing better, I'm sorely disappointed in the team...although I'm kinda consoled by the fact that Sundin is out for a month.

Well Alfie always does badly without his hair and if it's a major cut, his team suffers. Back when he had the really long hair, he cut it, and we were eliminated from the playoff run. He let it grow out a little, cut it again during the olympics, Sweden was eliminated there too. It's uncanny.

Finally! We really needed that win. After dropping 3 of our last 4 solid leads, a victory over a virtually undefeated team is quite impressive. I was glad to see Emery back in nets though, I don't know what's up with Gerber but he needed a game off.

Hey, as long as the thread isn't called the Ottawa Senator's Update Thread 06-07 anymore, it's on all of you to update too, this isn't my thread. I do have a life and although keeping you all informed of how the Sens are doing is on my top ten list, school takes precedence (exams are in a week and a half).

On that note, we were doing pretty well for a while there, 4 wins in a row and 7 consecutive starts for Emery. I think it's safe to say we don't have a lot of faith in Gerber after that horrid stretch while Emery was injured. We lost to Tampa Bay in the same way we've been losing a lot of our games; allowing a couple quick goals in a few minutes, or seconds in some cases, and then doing nothing for a period and a half. I was pleased to see Spezza actually shot without so much as one dangle, and scored I might add, the same way. He's either sick or he finally realized that just because it's works once or twice, it doesn't work every time. God, I hope it's the latter.

Speaking of crazy, we played amazingly tonight. I didn't catch the first period but we owned that third period. Mike Fisher was on fire tonight, he was on the ice for at least 3 of the 4 goals and and a beautiful feed off of Alfredsson. I'd say this was one of our better games on our road trip. And with Gerber no less. How ya like it Ronz?

I caught a few minutes of the Boston-Leafs game and I don't know who was in net for them but Boston's goalie was amazing for the portion I saw. Plus it was awesome watching Chara smack Sundin's stick a good 20 feet in the air.

the Sens played terribly, or so I hear, I couldn't watch the game because I had to study some of the most boring shit I've ever encountered. From what I was told, FreeHooker is right, we took stupid penalties and Spezza...well, he's Jason Spezza. I thought his attitude was improving with the whole shooting instead of dangling thing, but alas, he seems to have slipped back to the Jason of old. Besides, Washington it hot right now, aren't they? One of the better teams this year so far.

That was by far the worst officiating I've seen in a long time. The entire second period was a joke, nothing Buffalo did got a penalty and everything we did landed us on the PK. I was impressed with Spezza's play and blown away with Emery. I'm super glad the Alfie's back and Redden is soon to follow Also, I'm going to the next two home games and I can't wait.
