Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Also interested in a friendly competition.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Well, Africa's chances of winning the World Cup has diminished by two star players (Michael Essien, Ghana; Didier Drogba, Ivory Coast) in as many weeks. Ivory Coast was a dark horse to win before Drogba's injury; now they'll be lucky to advance out of the group stage.
How ya doing, buddy? |

Big day for USA and England. I wish I could take the day off... I was speaking idiomatically. |

So apparently ESPN's football analysts are already wetting themselves at the prospect of the US being in the semi-final, assuming the US beats Ghana (which is no guarantee) and the winner of Uruguay-South Korea (which is safer than Ghana, IMO). Considering the US has played two decent but separate halves (first half against England, second half against Slovenia) and barely won this game, I'm not willing to give Ghana the shrug-off yet. I am excited to see how the other four groups go. I'd like to see fewer matches where both teams advance regardless of winning or losing, though. (So I'll get my wish tomorrow with Japan-Denmark. )What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
(Seriously, Italy was last in its group behind New Zealand?) Portugal scoring seven goals on North Korea now may be its only saving grace if it loses to Brazil, which will want at least a draw to enjoy some of the fruits of an apparently easy upper bracket. FELIPE NO |
I needed that GHA 1-1 URU. This is going to be a thriller all the way to the end.
Most amazing jew boots |
If Spain and Germany (well, or Argentina, but they look like shit right now) win, the semi-finals will be between the two teams that probably garnered the most "Cup-winner" predictions and the two of the darkest horses in the tournament.
Spain vs. Netherlands in the Final? The planet might explode from one underachiever actually achieving something. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
How are the prop bets coming, by the way? I know I'm spot on for most goals conceded (North Korea) but not so much with anything else.

2010 World Cup: Match officials 'a big success,' FIFA says - ESPN Soccernet
Yeah, I guess if you look at EVERY call an official had to make (including fouls, offsides and goals), the statistic would probably skew toward accuracy. Nevertheless, I would think match officials for the World Cup would probably aspire to improve from 96 percent. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Well that was fun. I'll be happy to do it again in four years.
