Kana Little Sister.

Hi, I don't post here very often or make many threads, at all. But I just wanted to spread the word about this very inspiring game I recently played. The Quiet Place seemed like the best spot to post it, since most people here are going through some rough times in some way or another. It's called Kana Little Sister, and its a bishoujo game about Life, Love and Death. Yes it involves some explicit sex scenes like most games of its type, and not recommended for anyone under 18. But in all honesty, this is much more than just your typical hentai text based RPG, in fact the sex scenes only take up about 10% of the game. So why recommend it you may ask? Well, in my opinion it has one of the best stories I've read in any game, period. Because it's an adult game it doesn't moderate itself like some type of fairytale, you'd think someone wrote it based off of real life experiences. But to get to the point on whats the basis behind the game, here are a few details, links with more information and a direct download to the game.

You play as a Taka Todo, a young man with a sister [Kana] suffering from a terminal illness [for anyone against incest, she's adopted]. The game starts out with you visiting her in the hospital which she basically lives at, and flashes back to your early childhood when your relationship started. At first, Taka hated Kana for stealing attention from his parents, but after a certain experiance, Taka realizes she's his only sister he'll ever have and must protect her. The game progresses from early childhood, early teens, on to adult hood. As she gets older, Kana's condition gets worse and you're her only one true friend in the world, so she develops very deep feelings for you. Your parents treat her like a burden and barely visit her, they're workaholics. The two of you grow extremely close but later on in the game you find out some very shocking news. I'm not going to spoil it for you but your sister will need your help now more than anything.

I hope my description was intriguing enough, if not you don't have to take my word for it. Some of you probably already know about this game anyway.

Wait, you're recommending people in The Quiet Place play a japanese PC dating simulator?
No lol. I was recommending it to people in TQP because of the themes in the game, Life, Love and Death. KLS is very dramatic, nothing close to a happy-go-lucky storyline. It's not really a dating sim, more of a visual novel. But it has six different endings, depending on the choices you make throughout the game. Anyone looking for a simple hentai dating sim with hardcore sex scenes might be disappointed. Personally I loved it, and just wanted to let other people know about it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I sure don't, care to elaborate?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Too bad you wont find any of that in this game, except #1 if you want to put it that way.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

It sounds to me like Soldier's reasoning for editing out the sex scenes from the Evangelion doujin for RE-Take (though he did do it for his little sister), while I felt they were a bigger part of the whole (and the strange atmosphere).
I must fail at the internet, since I don't hear about these things until years after they came out [whats next, a sequel to Xenosaga 3? :wish:]. Evangelion was an awesome anime, one of my favorites. As a fan I can't believe I've never heard about this RE-Take. The download just finished so I'm going to start reading it right now.

There's also Hirameki, a company that translates visual noves and struggles to sell them. They brought KiD's Ever 17 over here. Visual News has a bunch demos and doujin visual novels translated by their community, if you didn't already know.
Thanks for the info, I'm going to look up some of their works later. It'll be nice to play another game like KLS.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Is there a scene where you've blown a massive load on your sister's face? If so, I kinda feel like that would destroy any artistic value the game held.
No there aren't any scenes like that in KLS. They're actually sensual and have meaning. The characters don't just go 'Hey wanna fuck?' 'Ok!'

Infact, and this may be a minor spoiler.
..
..
You only have sex with two different girls, not a whole harem like most games. Taka's girlfriend and his adopted sister.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Maybe it's the European in me talking here, but I still don't see how it's doing a disservice. Sure, you can remove the sex scenes and the story will be there, just as you can remove, say, the references to drugs in Trainspotting or any talk of sex in Y Tu Mama Tambien. But why? Why has the age rating thing conditioned people to think that anything raising the rating is something excessive and gratuitous. The sex scenes don't detract from anything since they're a part of the whole. You follow the storyline, you care about the characters, they fall in love, they have sex, and you're happy for them. They could fade to black, but showing the characters making love makes a much more effective statement about just how the two feel about each other.

It's not a game that would be played by regular gamers anyway. It IS an h-game, it makes no attempt to hide this, it simply is more gentle and honest than what's generally in games of this type (dating simulators as people assumed earlier). The audience is obviously completely different (at least that's what everyone's trying say, apparently).

I'm reminded of Fahrenheit's notorious sex scenes that were cut out from the US version, even though they showed more of the characters' relationships than could be shown without them (though Lucas' and Carla's scene felt far more out of place than the rest of the scenes, or the ones in Kana).

I just don't see how anyone mature enough wouldn't be able to enjoy something like that when it's well told enough. But again, maybe it's just me since I haven't grown up in an American environment.
Well said, I agree entirely. For one thing, if they removed the sex scenes from the game it would have sold half as many. Most people, like me approached KLS just looking for another h-game to play.

Don't read this if you intend on giving the game a chance.
Spoiler:
On my first play through, the last thing I expected to happen was for Kana to die; I kept thinking 'Oh they'll find some way to save the girl like they always do.' But they don't, at least not in 5 of the 6 endings. Games don't usually go that far, the only one I can think of where a main character dies is FFVII, and honestly Aeris's death was weak compared to Kana. Most games have a happy ending where everyone lives happily ever after. But most games aren't adult rated are they? So the developers can't do whatever they want. That's not the case in KLS, they went all the way, throwing conformities out the window, and the only good ending is still quite depressing. Which makes it a very good, unique experiance. Of course people who never played it wouldn't know that, they only bought it for the hentai. So you either love it, or hate it, but at least try it.

FELIPE NO
