There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Just in case it wasn't posted:
http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=40802 Big ol' thread with icons and pngs for PSX games on the PSP. Good luck. How ya doing, buddy? |
What exactly is your error? Are you getting an "invalid arguement" error or something like that when you set compression options then try to convert? You'll need the popstation.exe and cygz.dll that came with the 3.03 OE-A firmware, and just drop those/replace in /PSX2PSP/Files folder. Should work no problem from there. I've converted .bin no problem--6 games so far. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |

Ironically a link in PSPUpdates about PSX compression techniques just happens to pop up:

I went over the 2.80 > 1.50 instructions literally 4 times. I also repeated the initial step (activating xLoader and verifying it's active) several more times over. I was a complete noob, starting off with potentially the most harmful thing that can be done to the PSP (that is brick it), and still managed to do it fine.

quick clarification:

updated. The XMB in 333MHz runs noticeably faster now. ^^
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Honestly, to say you can come out with a downgrader that works on 2.81-3.03 is just too good to be true. I think they're more than likely just saying that to get their name out in the homebrew community, then MAYBE they'll come out with another mediocre app. =/
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I imagine 3.03 won't be the latest firmware for too long. =)
How ya doing, buddy? |
Once you flash to 1.50 (which is necessary for "cursed" boards IIRC), flashing to a custom firmware should be no problem. You can bump straight up to 3.03 OE-C seeing it's a full update, and not an incremental one.

Sin pretty much put it on the money. After you place 150.PBP and 303.PBP in said spot, run OEUPDATEMAKER from the XMB and it should verify both PBPs and make DATA.DXAR from those PBPs. You'll then move the created DATA.DXAR to the OEFLASHER folder, then boot the flasher from XMB. Good luck.

Delete them. You needed them for nothing more than upgrading, now that you've done that, get rid of the folder. I would suggest you keep the update EBOOTs though, so you won't go fishing for them next time a full OE comes out.

With the 3.03 OE-C firmware being out there is one important file that you needed in order to have non-Playstation Network games--Base.PBP. Which, essentially, is Hot Shots Golf 2 renamed.
Firstly, you'll need a GUI. pspupdates.com has them a dime a dozen, but the best one IMO is PSX2PSP. There are a few more files that are necessary in order to use optional controls (like compression), one of which is popstation.exe that came with the custom firmware download. All you gotta do is download a PSX ISO from where ever (I posted a link a few pages to a forum that has over 3000+ ISOs [rips included]), load the ISO into PSX2PSP, set the compression if you want to, and convert away. The default path for the EBOOT.PBP and Keys.bin is your desktop. Make a folder with the name of the game, place the EBOOT and Keys into the folder, and drop that into ms_root:/GAME/ and that should be it. PSX2PSP also supports customs icons and backgrounds that you see in XMB. Sorry to be vague but I gotta take off for work. I'll leave you with a couple of links and the PSX2PSP that I use. Good luck. http://www.snesorama.us/board/showthread.php?t=5284 http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=40802 PSX2PSP FELIPE NO |
does nethostfs and usbhostfs not work in the latest OEs? I think I got USBHOSTfs working through DH. I need to get a wifi card, that's for sure.

Basically. Once you take the plunge and downgrade/upgrade to OE-C, you'll be in the safe zone ESSENTIALLY. Another added feature is the ability to access flash0 and flash1 via USB in Recovery Mode. Exercised with EXTREME CAUTION of course!

most downgraders won't even let you downgrade if your battery is <75%. I'll guarantee the OE upgraders won't let you upgrade if that's the case--it'll spit you out of the updater.
Good luck. How ya doing, buddy? |
DAX strikes again. Hopefully I'll be updated before I take off for work. Just remembered my PSP is only ~15% charged right now. =/
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Yep. All emulators are required to be in the GAME150 folder.
chato: You'll still need the 1.50 and 3.10 EBOOTs. Put both of those in the oeupdmaker folder, run from XMB. Transfer the generated DATA.DXAR to the oeflasher folder, run through XMB. You should be good to go. Most amazing jew boots |
And that's what makes OE a homebrewer's best friend. But you'll have to take the plunge to GET to OE, but it's smooth sailing afterwards.

PSPupdates is down.

can't play PSX games through ISOs, you'll need to convert them to EBOOTs through PSX2PSP or any other converter. You'll need to find the necessary files. Good luck.

DAX has released 3.30 OE-A' and 3.40 OE-A

The new FW in the PSP Slim will be broken eventually. There's already a custom FW for 3.51. O_o
