I have a quick question: Does this thread cover books (written and comic) as well? I mean, it does just say 'media purchase' in the title, and since the media centre covers books, it would be logical to think that books would be considered media as well. Besides, it would be kinda pointless to have a thread that just covers people's latest book purchases when they could all be encompassed within this thread. I was just wondering.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Picked up a few things today. First off, I got Newsradio Season 3. Damn this a great show (I just finished the seasons 1 & 2 set about a month ago), so I had to get the latest season that was out. Next up, I got Kingdom Hospital: The Entire Series. I've been wanting this for a while, but I've only been able to find the single volume releases up until now (well, I have seen this before, but never when I had any money). Just my luck too, as it was part of a buy one get one free deal at Sam Goody, so I ended up with Seinfeld Volume 1: Seasons 1 & 2 for free. Great fucking deal in my opinion, as this was another show I've been wanting to get for a while, but just never got around to getting. This was about the only other good show on the list anyway (mostly old comedies like The Jeffersons and Good Times, which I don't really care for).

Also, I finally managed to find a copy of the 24 Original Television soundtrack. I already have a burned version of this, but I mainly just wanted this to collect more 24 merchandise (I'm probably not even gonna open it).

Also, the reason I asked the question about if we could post book purchases in my last post is because I got this sweet 24 comic (which is simply titled 24). It's the trade paperback edition that contains all three of the previous comics (One Shot, Midnight Sun, and Stories) in one book. I haven't read it yet, but I skimmed through book, and I must say that the artwork is fucking sweet. I did read the first page of the first comic though, and the story seems like it's gonna be interesting, especially since it covers

Spoiler:
Nina's first day at CTU!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I just bought Over There (The Complete Series) on DVD for $33. Also, since Target still had the sale going on, I picked up Season 3 of Gilmore Girls for $23.

I just bought the first two seasons of CSI for $20 each at Best Buy. That is a fucking great deal.

I also picked up Big Momma's House: Special Edition for my mom, to give to her for Mother's Day.

Have you even read the thread? People do respond to people, but it's not like somebody has something to say about every single purchase someone makes. If you don't care about what other people have purchased though, just don't follow the thread. I care though, and I'm sure there are others that do as well. It's just a good way to find out if someone else is a fan of something that you like, and to know what kind of stuff others like as well.

LOL.

But seriously, it's not like everyone has to be vocal about someone else's purchase. They can just mentally acknowledge that someone else is a fan of something that they like. In fact, I had just did that today with Timberwolf's post, since he bought the second season of 24. I love 24, so now I know that Timberwolf likes it as well. That doesn't mean I have to come in here and be like 'OMFG! U like 24? I like 24 2!' just to acknowledge his post.

I just bought Rescue Me: The Complete Second Season on DVD today. I have the first season already, but I haven't even watched it yet. I've also never even watched the show on TV, except for one episode that prompted me to buy the set. I figured that since the third season is premiering at the end of this month, I would try to marathon through both of these seasons so that I could watch the third season while it was airing.

Borders had a buy 3 get one free sale on DVDs, so I wound up leaving with more than I expected to. I had only planned on buying The 4400: The Complete Second Season, but after I found out about the sale I had to take advantage of it. My mom was already getting The Big Valley: The First Season on DVD, so I just added that on to my purchases to make that two. Then I saw that The Closer: The Complete First Season was out on DVD, so I picked that up to make three. Finally, I saw The Job: The Complete Series, and decided to make that my last purchase.

Funny thing is, they're supposed to make the lowest priced item the free one, but they didn't. The Closer was $35, making it the lowest priced one, but they instead made The 4400, which cost $40, the free one. It only saved me $5, but five bucks is five bucks.

I already have the first season of The 4400, but I've never seen the second season. I figured I would get this so I could watch all of it before the third season airs, which starts next month.

I never watched The Closer before, but it looked interesting from the commercials. I figured I would do the same thing with this as I'll do with The 4400: Watch it on DVD so I can watch the next season when it airs on TV (season 2 of The Closer also starts next month).

The Job was Denis Leary's show that he made before Rescue Me (which I just got through watching on DVD), so I figured I would give this show a shot. If it's even half as funny as Rescue Me, it'll definitely be a good show. I actually remember watching an episode or two when it first came on TV, and I think I liked it.

I also picked up a copy of the first issue of 24: The Official Magazine. It's awesome, except for a few errors in it that I saw.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Yeah, tvshowsondvd.com is where I first heard about this, but they didn't say what the episodes were (though I'm figuring that it's some of the episodes from the last season, those that focus on Alan Shore), so I was just wondering. I have no plans to actually purchase the set, as I really dislike Boston Legal (it just doesn't even compare to The Practice, in my opinion).

Thanks for finding those for me. I compared them to an episode guide, and they seem to be the last four episodes of The Practice. That's good for people who haven't seen The Practice and want to see how Boston Legal got its start, but I want full season sets of the show, starting from the beginning. I know something is in the works though, so I dope that this is what comes of it.

Did you watch the show Firefly before you watched Serenity? It's not a requirement, but it makes the film a lot more enjoyable. But if you did and you still didn't like it, then I don't know what to say.

Well, you can read up about it here.

But yeah, basically it's the show that the movie is a sequel of. It shows you how all the characters met and it just really makes more sense if you watch it before you watch Serenity.

I picked up a few things over the last few days. On Friday, I found these cheap DVDs of this show I never heard of called Starhunter. Apparently it's some kind of Canadian show or something. Wal-Mart had two volumes of this, which contains fifteen episodes (I have no idea if it's the first fifteen episodes, as they don't seem to be in order) of the series. I then found out that no volume 3 has even been released, and considering how old these releases are, may never actually be released. Oh well, they only cost $3 each, so it's noot like I'm out a lot of money.

Yesterday, I found the first volume of Futurama at Wal-Mart (I really don't go there as often as this post may imply) for $20. They had volume two there for $20 as well, but I decided to get that later.

And today, I got Season 1 of The Man Show at Best Buy for $20. This was both volumes 1 & 2 packaged together as one set, so this was a fucking steal, since each volume was priced at $30 when they first came out. They had the rest of the seasons for $20 as well, so I may have to go back and get those later.

Went to Best Buy today and picked up the first three seasons of The Pretender for $15 each, and the Doctor Who: The Complete First Series for $66.

Never seen The Pretender, so I decided to do a little reading up on it first. It seemed interesting enough, so I decided it was worth a blind purchase of the first three seasons at that price. Even if I don't like it (which I doubt), $45 isn't out too much money, and I can probably find someone who likes it to give it to as a gift.

As for Doctor Who, I spent way too much money for it (the only TV DVD set that I've bought that has cost more than that is La Femme Nikita season 1, which was like $80), but I know it'll be worth it. I watched the first two episodes when it premiered on the Sci Fi channel a few months ago, but after that I stopped watching when I found out it was edited. I heard that the DVD release was on July 4th, so I knew I wouldn't have to wait that long to see the rest of the episodes anyway.

I may get some more seasons of Seinfeld, since Target is selling them for $20 each this week. I've already spent so much though (with tax, the total was two cents shy of $120), and I plan on buying ER season 5 next week and Curb Your Enthusiasm season 5, so I may have to pass on these.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Today I bought ER Season 5, which I've been waiting forever to get, and the first two seasons of Reno 911! on DVD.

ER is like the best show that I've discovered from watching TV shows on DVD. I picked up the first season on a whim one day, as I saw it was cheap at Wal-Mart. After about a month or so, I started watching it, and it was fucking great! By the time I had finished it (it only took me about three weeks to watch all the episodes), I had found out that season 4 was about to come out. Because of this, Circuit City put the first three seasons on sale for $20, so I used this oppurtunity to pick up seasons 2 and 3 on the cheap, and I also managed to get season 4 that same week. I finished all of those episodes in a little over a month, so since about January I've been waiting for more of this show to be released on DVD. Season 5 just came out today, so I bought it as soon as I could!

Reno 911! is a little different. I remember watching some of this show back when it first came on, and I thought it was pretty stupid. A couple of years later, I watched some more of this show, and I thought it was fucking hilarious! I don't know if my taste changed, or if I just caught a bad episode, but now I figure I like this show enough to give it a chance on DVD. Since season 3 came out this week, Circuit City was selling the first two season for $18 each. I figured I would just get these two sets for now, make sure I like them, and then get season 3 sometime later.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I just bought The Pretender: The Complete Fourth Season at Target today for $29.99 (along with a free $5 gift card). I watched the first episode last night, and I really liked it, so I figured I would just go ahead and get the last season to finish off my collection (since I had just bought Seasons 1-3 a couple of weeks ago). Of course, there's still the TV movies, but I'm sure they'll release those eventually.

Wow, I've gotten a lot of stuff since my last post.

Animaniacs: Volume 1- Definitely one of my favorite cartoons as a kid, I imagine it's still as good now as it was then (or possibly even better, now that I'll probably get all the adult innuendo now).

The Boondocks: Season 1- Hands down my favorite show on Adult Swim, I've been wanting this ever since the firs season ended. Rewatching the episodes is good enough, but getting to see them uncensored will be even better.

Chappelle's Show: The Lost Episodes- I only saw the first episode on TV, so I figured I would just get the DVD to see the other two. Even if I had seen them, I probably would have gotten just for collection's sake (it was only $12 anyway).

Curb Your Enthusiasm: Season 5- Just bought this yesterday. I definitely have been waiting a while to see these episodes (I only collect this show on DVD, since I don't have HBO), as this is one of the funniest shows on TV right now (not to mention ever).

La Femme Nikita: Seasons 2 and 3- Ever since I finished season 1, I've been wanting to see more of this great show. The only problem had always been that the show was so expensive, usually around $80 a season (though the MSRP of each season was $100). Luckily, since season 4 was coming out last week, Best Buy decided to sell the first three seasons for only $38 each. This was definitely a deal I had to take advantage of, so I quickly grabbed up seasons 2 and 3 (season 4 was new though, so they were selling it for $65). Unfortunately, the packaging on my season 2 set was loose (one of the trays that holds the discs was completely separated from the spine, and the other two were loose), so I had to exchange it for another one. For that kind of deal though, a little extra hassle like that was nothing (I would have been thoroughly pissed, however, if this had happened to something that I paid full price for).

Mind of Mencia: Season 1- I saw a couple of episodes of this on TV back when it first came on, and it was pretty funny. Target was selling it for $10, so I figured I would get it so I could see the rest of the episodes and rewatch the ones I already saw.

Reno 911!: Season 3- Best Buy had a deal going on with Chappelle's Show: The Lost Episodes, that when you buy it you get $5 off the purchase of some other Comedy Central shows. Since I had just got the first two seasons a few weeks prior, I figured I would get season 3 with this deal. It was already on sale for $20, but with the deal I managed to get it for $15.

Robot Chicken: Season 1- The second funniest show on Adult Swim. I've been saying for a while that I would get this (just like another show, Drawn Together), but I just never had. Target had it going for $20, so I just got it.

I just bought Prison Break Season 1 at Best Buy today for $40. I was really undecided on whether to buy it at Best Buy or Target, since they both had different bonus disc with the set, but ultimately I chose Best Buy because their disc seemed better and it was cheaper there (just by a dollar, but still).

Basically the only reason I got it today was to make sure I got one of the bonus discs. I don't really need to watch the season again, as I pretty much remember everything that happened (it just had its season finale less than three months ago), but I may just quickly watch it again anyway since I'm not watching any other set right now (I just finished ER season 5 last night).

Boy I love it when a studio decides to put a bunch of its titles on sale! This time it was Warner Bros., who had a lot of titles on sale for less than $20.

First up is Entourage: The Complete First Season. Never seen the show before (don't have HBO, so all of their shows that I've seen have been on DVD, the only other show being Curb Your Enthusiasm), but it sounds good from what I've heard about it. And for the price, it's not like I'll be out a lot if I don't like it (though for the record, I've bought a lot of shows I've never seen before on DVD, and I've liked every one of them so far).

Next is Gilmore Girls: The Complete Fourth Season and The Complete Fifth Season. I already have the first three seasons on DVD (which I also bought during a sale like this), so getting these two sets was a no brainer. Now I just need to actually find the time to sit down and watch all these (I've never seen the show straight through from the beginning, which is why I've been getting the DVDs).

Finally, I bought Nip/Tuck: The Complete First Season and The Complete Second Season. I remember watching this show when it first came on, but even though it was interesting, I could never completely get into it due to other outside factors (missing some scenes or entire episodes). Now that I have it on DVD and can watch it on my own time, I should be able to really get in to it.

My DVD shelf weeps ;_;

EDIT: Oh, I forgot that I also bought Storm of the Century for $5 at Wal-Mart. I love that mini-series, so I didn't hesitate to get it for that cheap.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I just picked up My Name Is Earl Season One: Good Karma Deluxe DVD Set today. I've never even seen thre show, but I had a coupon for $5 off coupon for it that came with my Prison Break set, and I had a $20 gift certificate for Best Buy, so I only had to pay $8 for it. I've heard good things about it, so I figured it was worth it.

The version I got is pretty spiffy, too. The outside box is windowed, which shows the special flannel shirt covering that goes over the regular set. Inside the box was a Best Buy exclusive bonus disc along with the regular set and flannel covering. I almost didn't get it at first, because I'm not really much into special packaging (mainly because it takes up more shelf space, which I'm having problems with at the moment), but I figured I would since it cost the same price as the regualar set, and it was the only way to get the bonus disc. Overall, I definitely don't regret getting it, as I think it's pretty cool.

I bought quite a few things yesterday.

First off, I bought Arrested Development: Seasons 1-3 at Circuit City for $18 each. I've always wanted to see this show from the beginning (since I've only seen one episode from like the middle of season 2 that made no sense to me), so with all the seasons going for this cheap, I couldn't pass this up.

Second, I bought Brotherhood: The Complete First Season at Wal-Mart for $20. I rewally had no intentions of getting this, but I saw it selling for that cheap, and thought that it was pretty good for a newly released TV DVD set. I have heard good things about it though, so it wasn't a totally random buy.

And finally, I bought Murder One: The Complete First Season, also at Wal-Mart for $20. I had heard good things about this show, I had just never bought it because it was always like $40 or more. I was surprised to see it selling for half that, so I quickly snatched it up. Also, the box tells me I'll like it, since it says that if I love 24, I won't want to miss a minute of Murder One ()!

Damn Wal-Mart. I didn't even plan on buying any DVDs this week, but they had some good deals that I couldn't pass up.

First off, I got Smallville: The Complete Fourth Season for $15! I ususally see this going for around $40 or so, and even on sale I haven't seen it for less than $30 or so, so needless to say, I was really surprised to see this for that cheap of a price. I probably won't watch it anytime soon (still watching The Pretender at the moment, and planned on starting Arrested Development soon), but it's nice to have it for whenever I decide too.

Next, I got Oz: The Complete First Season for $15 as well! The cheapest I had seen this going for was $50, so of course I picked this up too when I saw it for that price. I was kinda holding out in hopes that they would release a 'Complete Series' set, but I couldn't pass the show up when it was going for this cheap. Also of note (that only Capo will probably care about), this is the first HBO drama I've ever bought on DVD, and only the second HBO show in general (the first being Curb Your Enthusiasm).

Also while I was there, I saw That's My Bush!: The Definitive Collection for $20. I didn't even know this was coming out this week, (scratch that, it seems it came out several weeks ago) so I bought it out of pure surprise of seeing it. I probably would have bought it anyway though, since it was one of the funniest shows I can remember from Comedy Central.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
