So far I have the internet working perfectly, forwarded ports etc so Bit-Torrent is working well.

Now I want to try and setup a network between the two computers so we can share files and perhaps later setup a printer to share as well. My PC has Windows XP with SP2 and my brothers simply has Windows XP.

How should I go about doing this?
Maybe im wrong, but it seems like you already have.
the rest of the setup is software. am i missing something?

share a folder, give it a simple name like test or something
go to the other computer and click start, run, and type: \\othercomputername\sharename
(replaceing othercomputername and sharename with real names.)
also, try pinging one computer from the other by IP address.
eg. 'ping 192.168.0.12'

if it works the you have already got your network up. if not, post what happends here.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
