for win 95/98/me, Norton Utilities 2002 has the best defrag ever made. Sadly its incompatible with the NT kernal so you can't use it on win2k and xp. Their defrag tool from utilities 2003 and up is pure shit, not much better then the built in windows defrag, if better at all.

for 2k and xp, I recommend O&O Defrag. It's blazing fast and does a good enough job. Haven't used anything that does a better job to be honest, even though it sometimes can't do anything about huge (1gb+) files if your hdd is too crowded (like, less then 10% free). But aside from that minor nuisance, its the best I saw for ntfs drives.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well I don't know about defragging the page file because a) it is set to variable size by default, so even if you defrag it, its only staying that way for 1 minute max making it pointless and b) I have 1gb of ram and completely disabled paging because its way faster.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
