I'm not sure how well this thread did before the crash, but I figured why not give it another try. just post your favourite quotes, try to list the movie and the character [or actor] that says it and if perchance you feel like it, explain why it's your favourite.
to get things going, these are the first two quotes that come to mind that really stuck with me:
|
Quote:
"Lena. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry I left you at the hospital. I called a phone-sex line... I called a phone-sex line before I met you, and four blond brothers came after me and they hurt you, and I'm sorry. Then I had to leave again because I wanted to make sure you never got hurt again. And I have a lot of puddings, and in six to eight weeks it can be redeemed. So if you could just give me that much time, I think I can get enough mileage to go with you wherever you go if you have to travel for your work. Because I don't ever want to be anywhere without you. So could you just let me redeem the mileage?" - Barry Egan [Adam Sandler] from Punch Drunk Love

it's quite simply one of, if not the best apologies/I-love-you's I've ever heard in a film. I thought it was wonderful.
and the second:
|
Quote:
"One shouldn't be too hard on oneself when the object of one's affection returns the favor with rather less enthusiasm than one might have hoped." - Rodney Fraser [Nigel Hawthorne] from The Object of My Affection

I always liked this quote, simply because I'm sure we've all been there, but that is just a damn fine eloquent way of putting it. too bad the rest of the film wasn't quite so great.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
