Are you upgrading because you want gigabit speeds between the computers on your network? You don't need to upgrade your router to get gigabit between the PC's on your local network. Assuming you already have gigabit network adapters on your computers, all you need to do is add a gigabit switch and use Cat 5E cable for the connections (from each PC to the switch).
You might also want to ask yourself if the upgrade would be worth it, like if you transfer many large files and have hard drives fast enough to take advantage of the increased speed. Check www.monoprice.com for cheap cables. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
