My estimate of the percentage of violent/mature games at this year's E3 is about 85-90%. And most of the rest are handheld titles. So it's not too surprising that the games they are talking about are violent. At this point, it's simply a fact that a lot of the games coming out right now are violent.
I'm also not too surprised newspapers aren't exactly up to date on these things, they are hardly the place to look for objective and relevant reporting in general, and especially when it comes to the games industry. I certainly still believe that the Wii will appeal both to the hardcore gamer AND the untapped market of moms and girlfriends. I reckon it'll just take time for the media to catch up. Jam it back in, in the dark.   |
