Apparently my battery isn't one of the ones affected—I got my PowerBook just before the timeframe cited in the recall, and my battery doesn't match the serial number ranges listed on the page.
Shame too, I was hoping for a free battery. I don't care whose laptop you buy, after three years even a very well cared for LiIon battery doesn't get the life it got when it was new.  Do still need to check my bro's PowerBook battery though. EDIT: Update, seems he is eligible for a new battery. He's never had it get unusually hot (as I'd imagine is the case for most of the people affected). Maybe once he gets his new one he'll let me have his old one and use it as my primary battery. Most amazing jew boots
