Apple 1.8Million Batteries Recalled

Saw a headline at foxnews on this.

Get your iBookG4's and PowerbookG4's upgraded before they go boom.

I can't wait until Sony goes bankrupt. :)

Seriously, at this rate (and with PS3 production going up) they are going to be so in the red...

RIP Sony? It's a possibility.

I can't wait until HP/Compaq joins the Apple/Dell club. At this rate, my prediction of Sony going bankrupt by 2009 will be a VERY REAL possibility.

Apparently HP doesn't use Sony batteries though so it'll be immune, although check me up on that to be sure.

Sony really is eating it, although at least its not these companies whos fault this stupid issue is not.

I like how nobody went "MAN, I HOPE LG GOES OUT OF BUSINESS" when the last battery recall happened with Apple, and the same when it happened with HP/Compaq.

But when it turns to, of all people, Sony, suddenly this hardware defect (yes, I know it can cause explosions, but I bet running these laptops like they were desktop computers didn't help, either,) becomes a horrible atrocity and they should just get the fuck out.

Boy, you people are really fucking dense.

Ummmm, I'm pretty sure render was the only one that said anything about waiting/hoping Sony goes bankrupt. I know that I don't wish for Sony to go under, but I do think that with all that is going on, they are definitely in financial hot water. Things are not good in the Sony camp. Whether you want them around or not.

Apparently my battery isn't one of the ones affected—I got my PowerBook just before the timeframe cited in the recall, and my battery doesn't match the serial number ranges listed on the page.

Shame too, I was hoping for a free battery. I don't care whose laptop you buy, after three years even a very well cared for LiIon battery doesn't get the life it got when it was new. ;)

Do still need to check my bro's PowerBook battery though.

EDIT: Update, seems he is eligible for a new battery. He's never had it get unusually hot (as I'd imagine is the case for most of the people affected). Maybe once he gets his new one he'll let me have his old one and use it as my primary battery.

Well you just might get your wish granted. Apparently Apple has updated their list of affected batteries. You ought to recheck the list to see if your serial matches one of these new ones.
