I really like the rendition with Gameboy sounds. There's enough staccato tuning to remind me of Pokemon Battle-esqe GB themes.

Keeping the choir in the arrangement was I think the biggest mistake in this song. The choir is too powerful and completely overruns the synth background (from about 3:20-End).

That's my only gripe. Other than that. Cool song.

Yeah, basically I think what was done here is that he took the vocals from the PSone version and integrated them into the song. If you notice, the vocals are slightly off tempo as well.
