XHG has died a few months after it started. Kitty is in.. one of the top ranking guilds, Lace is in some other guild and I'm guildless again, but hoping to get into CT (Crossing Tyria).

Its always fun to have someone you know in the same guild as you, but its also hard to maintain. It gets borring, you dont play for a while, or you decide to leave.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Ok, so you still can play the early access event, but then you get locked out. Your characters stay there for 10 days if you dont put in a factions key, and then they get deleted.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Oh, and I think I'll pick up Factions sometime later this week.

I'll help... Its perfectly doable with henchies, bonus included, it just takes a bit of time and patience. I'll see if I can get a friend or two to help out as well.

I haven't been trying to rush through the game, but I feel like one could just breeze by through it if they had a reasonable amount of skill.
The reason why the monastary island rushes you to level 20, is because once you reach the mainland, you'll be running into huge mobs (10, 15 guys) all lvl 20 and above, and the difficulty gets ramped right up to near impossible.

"In prophecies, it was all about getting there, in Factions, you're already there"

Thats not how it is at all.

Here's a quick summary of the game, as how I experienced it. You make a new lvl 1 character in Cantha. You start on the monastary island, and it quickly brings you into an imersive story. You do training, quests, (quests that give you 3500-5000 exp) which quickly boost up your level. Think of the monastary as the original pre-sear. The reason they get you to lvl 20 quickly, because, well.. the mainland is very difficult.

thats the monastary island, and its quite big... you'll spend a good 5-6 hours there, doing all the quests.

this is the mainland. its smaller then tyria, but its alot more dense. There are alot of towns, outposts, missions, and a boat load of quests. BUt once again, very difficult mobs. all lvl 20 and above. Dont expect to survive there if you're not lvl 18 or higher.

Think of it as story line too.. Prophecies was starting out as a new recruit, following the storyline across the mountains, getting to Lions Arch, you're level 20, and then you get swept up in the new storyline that unfolds with the white mantle and all that.. Then you ascend, and it just keeps going.

Factions, is you start, new recruit, but there are already bad things happening on the island, and they push you to grow quickly, so when you get to the mainland, you'll stand a fighting chance against the multitudes of enemies. Factions by far, is not a short game. There is an equal amount of content, and is equal in length as well. Ignore the whole "but you get to lvl 20 in 4 hours" level 20 means nothing. Its all about skills in this game.

If you want to see a fully explored map of Cantha, you can do so Here
</rant>

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I've only gotten to the temple where you meet the ghost assasin lady person. Not too far either.

I don't mind that there are no skill quests, and I think its not too expensive to get them. Its not like you need to buy every skill given to you. Only the ones you need, when you need them... The most expensive investment I put into factions so far was buying each of the secondary professions. That was a bummer, but a few quests and selling loot got me back the money I spent so s'all good.

Btw if anyone wants to play I'm up for anything...PM Huggable Snuggables or Oh Fiddles =)
Your character has to be 12 months old for them to receive the mini-pet in their inventory. Think of them as birthday presesnts. Also, if you buy the Factions Collectors edition, you'll get a minipet from that.

Haha Waka Welcome back. Uh, my guild is sorta strict on letting people in, but believe me, if you drop the guild and lose your tag, you'll be sent tons of random invites.

In the spirit of celebration, adventurers on the continent of Cantha are cordially invited to the Dragon Festival, a summer festival with all the trimmings!

After the destruction wrought by the Jade Wind, the newly crowned Emperor Hanjai (the eldest son of the assassinated emperor) oversaw the settlement of Shing Jea Island and the expansion of Kaineng City. The following summer, Emperor Hanjai dedicated a new Dragon Festival to commemorate the survival of the Empire of the Dragon.

Participants in the Dragon Festival can join in fun carnival-type games (Whack-A-Worm, anyone?), play new mini-missions and special PvP gameplay, undertake unique quests, and collect Asian-flavored treats such as red bean cakes and rice wine. Ceremonial Dragon Masks will be awarded to those players who are able to collect enough globes filled with the Jade Wind essence that changed Cantha two hundred year ago. The conclusion of the Dragon Festival will be marked with surprises true Canthans won't want to miss.

Taking place in and around the Shing Jea Monastery on June 30, 2006 at 7:00 GMT and running through July 5, 2006 at 7:00 GMT, the Dragon Festival is an exclusive weekend event for Guild Wars Factions players.
Just some recent news.

Nah, keep the acount. Whats good about GW, is that you can stick it on the shelf for as long as you want, then, next summer, or when a new chapter comes out, re-install, stick your e-mail address + pwd in and you're ready to go.

I've lost quite a bit of interest in GW as a whole, just because for every new chapter, its a new character, and if you want to get the most out of the game, every charater should be taken through all three chapters, which is crazy borring after the first time around. Prophecies is just long, Factions is "omgwtf hard", but I'm hoping Nightfall is better. I don't think I'll buy it right away this time though, I'll wait a few months. Saving up for something better (sup Wii)
