It's been an oppressive summer out here in New England. Really dry, too. Which means awesome tomato crops HIGH FIVE >_> It also means great, great times out there in vacation land. Every weekend could be the best one of your life with this weather.
This past weekend cooled off substantially, though. The clouds came in and I had to actually wear a sweater for the first time in months.
Today, it's about 63F and cloudy. I'm baking bread 'cause I can't think of anything else that productive to do. My garden is in limbo, still producing, but not growing as fast. The lawn only needs to be mowed maybe once every OTHER week, now. The leaves are starting to turn only VERY slightly, but if you're from the north, you can see fall is on its way, just from the yellow tipped trees. The peepers will be hauling in soon, which means that while the summer traffic is slowing down, the autumn traffic will only provide a very BRIEF relief for us locals.
We were painting the house, but that's stale-mated until the sun comes back and the humidity clears out. (We've got half of it done, though)
The camping season ends in about 2 weeks, maybe less. This is really upsetting for me, as I never like thinking of the campgrounds closing. We also scored a pop-up camped that is being worked on presently, but I want to break in this season, come hell or high water.
I'm kind of mad at myself for not going more places and doing more things this summer. Every weekend came and went so fucking fast, and I don't feel like I have much to show for it, save for an improved house and some small mini-vacations.
When Labor Day comes and goes, you know it's all over and you can break out the nutmeg and cinnamon.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
