I'm here as well, and although I'm seriously pumped for this, Sony's craptastic showing has given me not only hope for Wii, but also a fear that they might fuck up just as badly. Either way, should be interesting.

Yeah, I'm now REALLY interested in how Microsoft reacts to the Sony conference.

Nintendo's reaction should be interesting, if not a little obvious as well.

Still, Wii seems to be the most entertaining of them all...
Its just that the games looked even worse than most expected (I expected games worse than last years footage, but not to this extent). However, that's not even a huge deal. The biggest problem is that the controller, pricing and seperate package deal was just THAT. BAD.

Even if those were the "only" things wrong with the conference (and they basically were), that's more than enough.

EDIT: As far as games, what's everyone looking forward to? Personally, MP3, Smash, and hopefully announced Metroid 5 and/or Smash for the DS.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Ya know what? Before we saw gameplay, the one thing that kept ringing in my mind was this statement.
"PLEASE look like Gamecube, PLEASE look like Gamecube"

Honestly, they are going to get more interested customers buying their system with cool looking games and a cheap price tag then they would trying to match Sony and Microsoft in graphics, and end up being a more expensive system. This is something new, it is going to be a risk for many people to spend money on something this new. People will be more willing to give it a shot knowing that they don't have a lot invested in it.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I don't really know. I do know that a lot of people will flock to a system that has GTA though.
Yes, I understand that, but I think the one thing that puts this strategy into its own is the Virtual Console. People will be interested in the controller, but buy it for a cheap way to play the older games, then be pulled into the newer titles.

Without a lower price tag, I doubt the system would be bought just for "old school" games.

Sounds like there's really more to it. Well, in Q4 we'll know everything.
Yeah, I noticed that too on my second viewing.

Can't wait.

BTW, anyone else realized that with dual Zappers, the analog stick allows for the player to control their character and two weapons, all independant of each other. Hell, you could even use the zapper for movement and shooting, and use a standard controller as a knife, sword or something else!

Greatest idea ever, Nintendo.
