When I was eight years old, my parents started a $2 allowance. When I was about thirteen, I was the laughing stock of my school when the other kids had $15 allowances. Turning fourteen, the tables turned. I started drug dealing to the rich kids. I could score an eighth of pot for $10, and turn it over for $50. I never made more than $100 a week, but being a broke teenager makes you creative. I quit all of that when I got a job at sixteen at the hospital turning $100 a week.
If I have children of my own, I would expect them to do chores, and give them money for activities when they ask for it. I'd rather know that I'm giving them $15 for a movie ticket rather than $5 to turn in to drug investments.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
