I can't afford that type of optimism.

Gas is around $2.45 in my neck of the woods......but I drive a car that pulls down 15mpg on average. My other car does slightly better (20mpg), but it's sidelined with a bit of a mechanical malady. :aargh:

Jam it back in, in the dark.

It's happening too often for my tastes. I was actually getting used to paying $2.09 at the local Cowboys. The only thing I can do now is get a smaller, fuel sipping car. It's either that, or walk.

That was what I was paying a few months ago, when Katrina blew through and the shit really hit the fan.

I take it there aren't as many SUVs up there

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Most Americans are skittish on subcompacts, unless they have some sort of "fad" factor like the BMW-made Mini or the Golf GTi. With all of these SUVs and semis on the road nowadays, who can blame em?

Most Europeans have small cars because, most times, they suit the cityscape. Small village squares, narrow streets, little to no parking, half of the cost of fuel ate up in taxes and insurance costs -- having a small car is a plus in most cases. Here in the U.S.? Fat chance......most times, owning a small car is seen as proof-positive of a low-income status (which still doesn't explain why so many ghetto folks opt for Escalades in the fucking projects).

Personally, I can't wait to hop in a small car that'll save me some cash on fuel costs. Loading up a Town Car with 91 octane puts the fuckin hit on a wallet.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

You got people out there who think "Ford Pinto" whenever they see a subcompact.

Ford Pinto + Rear-end collision = OMGWTFBBQ!!

I was speaking idiomatically.

With the Ford Festiva (not to be confused with the European Ford Fiesta) following closely.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
