[Multiplatform] Final Fantasy XI Discussion

I could have easily started a new thread, since this one is nearly a year old, but I'm really not in the mood right now.

Basically, I'll start playing it again soon, so I was wondering, how many of you guys still play it?

I'm not surprised that you can't take the switch from WoW to FFXI. FFXI is so much harder to get into when you compare it to WoW. I personally loved the game the minute I first played it, so i'll be looking forward to it again.

Heh...I had to read the thread a couple of times, because I was confused why you two were constantly talking about Puppetmasters. If it's me you are talking about, I'm not really interested in puppetmaster at the minute.

I will go Titan I think, but I haven't quite decided on a class yet, I think i'll do the same thing I did before and just start as a WAR, get that to 30. Or perhaps a WHM. I played both of those before so i know what to expect at least. Back then WHM was pretty desirable class, but I would have to guess that right now theres just too many of them.

What about RDM, are they overpopulated too? Either way, I think i'll go human in bastok. <3 Bastok. I made a elvaan before, but it was either my imagination, or they missed too often. =(

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Been reading a bit more about RDM they do seem pretty cool to play with. Shitloads of Enfeebling spells, some nuking, some healing and support, and on early levels a bit of melee. Seems pretty fun to play with.

I like the idea of just starting with one of the base classes and going for that right from the start, instead of instantly jumping on a advanced job the first chance you get.

I think i'll go for RDM or WHM, and probably level a different melee based class for some farming later on. Probably something like WAR/THF or WAR/NIN.

I'm sure I can manage somehow, I've heard that from a number of sources, but I strongly recall even low level groups usually had a RDM. I'll see how it goes and adjust to that.

I've been also reading a bit about crafting and gather skills like mining, they sound easy enough when you eventually get into it, but a lot of them need some serious cash to get started, what level do you suggest to get one up? I was thinking mining and smithing/goldsmithing.

I have been reading a bit about BLU, and it seems like a cool class, and looks like a lot are interested in it, it's a lot more popular then the other 2 latest job classes according to a statistic I saw.

I think I can get used to any class really. I played a Warrior and White Mage to 30, and really enjoyed that. Only drawback I had with WHM is that you usually don't hear the battle music, because most of the time you don't draw your weapon, I mean honestly, what's the point? =D

RDM seems win though at the moment, I'll probably go for that. Only thing I haven't decided yet is RDM subjob. WHM and BLM both sound good. Both add good stats to RDM, and both add some nice passive job traits. Any suggestions on what's better for a RDM overall?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Guess it all comes down on what you prefer. More MDN and support and healing spells, or more INT and nuking spells, along with some nifty spells like aspir. Personally, I doubt I'd go BLM for the offensive spells. I'm sure it works early on but at 75 you'll have access to 37 spells at best, I don't see that working anymore.
