They improved over their gigantic original controller, but you can't hold the S controller firmly for an extended period of time without your hand hurting. After a few hours of Dynasty Warrirs 4, my hands hurt like shit. I have to hold the S controller by it's sides, and sides mostly, because there's no finger grip support to hold it properly.
The dpad on the S controller is pretty much useless for fighters and 2D games. I'd recommend buying a magic box and use a different controller, because anything's better than this crap.

I liked the S controller. You gotta remember, Elixir that it isn't microsoft's fault that your muscles atrophied to the point that it is difficult and hurts to hold a controller for an extended period of time. God Help you if you ever try to touch a guitar.
Anyways, my 360 controller doesn't get that dirty except for the right analog stick getting some funky stringy shit in the center of it. I love the 360 controller's design though, fits perfectly with my hands and is so easy to play with.
