Holy crap....both Mo0 and Acer are less than 2 hours away from me?

o.O

Anyways....

Quote:
According to Best Buy's Retail Stock System (RSS), the number of available Wii systems per store may already be established. The rumor states that there will be as few as 24 Wiis for the stores sitting out in the boonies, and as many as 120 for the more popular Best Buys situated in highly populated areas. However, the estimated average per store leans towards the high side, as the supposed expectation per store ranges between 80 and 90.
Sounds good to me. Hopefully there won't be 80-90 people standing outside Best Buy for 22 hours. Though I doubt I could walk in 1:00 in the afternoon on November 19th comfortably to pick up one....I might have to camp out....

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Jason? You mean Friday the 13th?

Anyways, what's the actual cost of Walmart's deal if you bought it separately?

1 Wii Console - $250
4 Games - 4 x $50 = $200
1 Nunchuck+WiiMote - $60
Wii Points - $20

Meh, if you really want to spend that much money at once. I'd rather parse it out.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Haha....I presume you've checked out Angry Nintendo Nerd's review of Friday the 13th....it's pretty amusing.

Anyways, Which places have not had preorders? I'm almost certain I'll have to camp out somewhere. I'm thinking Best Buy, Circuit City, or Target.

2GB seems like A LOT of space....Is it really necessary to use up that much? I know game saves don't take up shit worth space (like 1:1000 ratio for a save according to the IGN video). Probably just the virtual console games that can be large. And if you had 2GB, an SNES game is about 3 - 5 MB. so you can fit quite a bit into even 1GB.

I dunno, it's just that 2GB seems almost superfluous to me.

Quote:
Nintendo: All virtual console games can be played using the Classic Controller or Nintendo GameCube pads. The Wii Remote can also be turned on its side and used as a traditional controller to play NES games. However, a game will only be playable with the control mechanism it was designed for. So, for example, you will play NES games with the D-pad, not an analogue stick or motion-sensitive functionality.

When using a mixture of Wii and GameCube controllers, the Wii Remote or Classic Controller will take priority. So if you have two Classic Controllers plugged in they instantly become player one and two regardless of how many GameCube pads are inserted.
I said Woohoo! No more need for classic controllers! Gamecube controllers all the way!

That was a good read. Nintendo makes a good point that it has been proven by the DS that it really doesn't need to keep up powerful hardware to compete.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Lol, too bad my TV still only supports the composite format. I need a new TV. Preferably something that's light and sexy-looking (aka, LCD TV).

Anyways, I'll probably be camping out my neighborhood Best Buy the 18th for my Wii. This is going to be so much shit to buy.....

Wii - $250
Excite Truck and Red Steel - $100
Wiimotes+Nunchucks x 3 - $180
----------------------------------
Total - $530

Seems expensive, but then you realize how much you actually got and it suddenly looks cheaper. At least relatively speaking. Two games and max supported controllers. Would cost a bit more with 360 and PS3.

Must have a Camera Ready by the 18th....when I will be starving and freezing in front of Best Buy. Sounds like fun.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Holy crap man, that's a Tiny Box....I didn't know it was that small...

I'm excited. Wii's going to be small enough to be unobtrusive and easily portable. Sweet.

I was surprised too. It seems that it doesn't take much to actually register any motion. That's pretty good, especially from a person who has never touched a console ever. Nintendo's achieved it's target audience.

For me, these are the essentials:

SNES: Chrono Trigger, Illusion of Gaia, Megaman (just about any of them (Although i know this won't happen cause of the aniversary collection)

N64: Castlevania (Legacy of Darkness), Army Men: Sarge's Heros, Army Men: Air Assault (I think that's what it was called), Donkey Kong 64, Starcraft 64.

Those are the games that i remember most vividly from my younger days. I could live without any of those, with the exception of Illusion and Chrono Trigger. I absolutley need those games to be on there. It'd be awesome if the early Final Fantasy games could make an apperance too, but i'm sure that's just wishful thinking.
Every old classic game would make a good appearance. Since I am now hooked on Double Dragon (Damn Double Dragon III for being so damn hard), I hope those 3 make an appearance. All of the Final Fantasy games would be nice too, no fucking slowdown like in the PSX version....ugh

Previous Mario Kart Iterations would be nice as well as all of the Zelda games. (got a lot of catching up to do... ) As for Sega, all of the Sonic Games, Gunstar Heroes, Moonwalker (:lolsign, and finally, SHINING FORCE (God, I loved this series).

As for N64, Super Mario 64, Goldeneye 007, Smash Bros (can't leave out the original), Jet Force Gemini (I heard it was awesome), and I suppose Perfect Dark (even if it plays just like Goldeneye).

I've never bought any extended warranty and stuff. The regular, limited warranty here in the US is usually 1 year. It's 30 days for a refund, but you can return the thing for up to a year. Then again, it depends on which vendor you bought from.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Every Nintendo System that's come out has been pretty damn sturdy and won't break easily. But I really haven't seen a torture test for the Wii.

GC games have load times? This is news to me.

Then again, maybe it's just the games I have.

I don't recall the following games having load times...at least not a loading screen...

Mario Party 4
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Mario Power Tennis

Super Smash Bros. Melee had a loading screen, but that took all of 2 seconds max.

So, say by chance we don't get one at launch, when do you think we can expect subsequent shipments? Because there is a good possibility I won't be able to get one at launch.

Yeah, couldn't get a Wii at thanksgiving, and haven't posted back in a long time. So yeah, probably going to wait until Christmas when I get back home from college. Might even have an HDTV by then. Since, as of right now, I don't have a television set that is capable of handling anything higher than Composite.

Anyways, it seems that Wii sports seems to be much more fun than previously thought, and Red Steel isn't quite as good as it was thought to be. Excite Truck also seems somewhat shallow. I suppose the best party games lie with Wii Sports and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz. Any confirmation on this? Exactly how good/bad is/are Red Steel and/or Excite Truck.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Slicing maybe? Would the game register slices?

Anyways, Wii games in the US, what to get first, since my financial resources are rather tight right now. Zelda: Twilight Princess is a given. Now, one more game after that.

I'm considering Excite Truck, Red Steel, or Super Monkey Ball. Opinions? Thoughts? Suggestions? Other games possibly?

Meh, I haven't played a Mario Party game since 4 so I dunno about that. But from what I've heard, each one has been adding new stuff to the formula for distinctly different play. I wouldn't say it's a bad game. The sports games (or at least Tennis) have been awesome. I can't wait for the new Tennis game to come out. Mario Kart has been kicking ass at every iteration, but that's already been pointed out.
