The 2 player cooperative mode is the main reason to get this game, aside from the fact it's the first Mario platformer to be seen in nearly a decade. Am I the only one who thinks Mario platformers should have remained 2-D? Anyway, it's too bad I don't know anyone IRL with a DS. Oh well, it still should be fun.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Wow, I really like that turtle shell idea! Reminds me of Roshi in DB. The more pics I see, the more fun the game is shaping up to be. Crap, why do all the games I want have to come out within months of each other?

The Star Road was bloody hard back when it was on the SNES. It could be just me, but I thought the Star Road on the GBA version was much easier. However, I didn't like the changes that occured after completing it though. I'd rather see normal enemies than Koopas with Mario masks and such.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Oh huzzah!! It's about time the Koopalings get more time in the spotlight. I was disappointed they've pretty much dropped off the face of the Earth for a good long while after Super Mario World. Does Nintendo have something against them? Larry's my favourite :3 Yet another good reason to get this game.

Bowser should really get his own game :(

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Crap. I didn't know he had his own levels, darnit. Paper Mario 2 is yet another game I want but can't find the funds to : / It's still a hefty 60 bucks in stores. *sigh* It looks like they're turning Bowser into a funny villain and not a funny/evil villain. I miss the old Bowser.

That is true, but the fact that he has never been out of his castle and only lived to destroy Mario and take over the Kingdom has made him seem more evil than he does now. Actually, I don't think he has ever talked in those older games except for Super Mario RPG.

However, the fact that he is actually a lot more in recent games makes him look more comedic and less evil than his earlier outings when he didn't talk except roar and stomped on your head. Don't get me wrong, I thought he was great in Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, but perhaps now it's going a tad too far. At this rate, Bowser's going to known as as simply a funny villain and not a funny/evil villain. Nobody's going to take him seriously anymore if he loses his evilness.Well, nobody except me, being a giant Bowser fan and all...

Or maybe I'm just being stupid.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Well, yay, someone agrees with me.

Speaking of the Koopalings, I came across this great fanart of the brood. It's nice to know they have a fanbase:

How ya doing, buddy?

I've never played Super Mario Sunshine, so please enlighten me.

As for Bowser Jr., I've always felt he was a piss poor replacement for the Koopalings. At least they looked different and cooler. I wish they'd just retire Bowser Jr. for good.

XD This reminds me of the Bowser for President ad campaigns for one of the Mario Party games. When Bowser described why he'd make a better President, he said Mario is a danger to the inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom, stomping on thousands of Goombas and the like. That ad was hilarious.

Oh wow, Bowser looks so damn cool in that screenshot! He sure looks decidedly evil, yay! Thanks for the pics!

Nah nah, Blargg is the coolest character in the entire series besides Bowser and the kids.

I hope I hope I hope he makes a comeback in this game.

I'm disappointed. I was informed that the koopalings would be in it, along with Bowser Jr, but nope! Apparently it was a misunderstanding, and only Bowser Jr. is in it. How disappointing! If this game is supposed to be a throwback to the older games, then it'd make a lot more sense to put in the Koopalings than Bowser Jr. He's not an old character, fer cryin' out loud!

That said, I'm sure the rest of the game rocks. I have yet to purchase it, but I will some day!

Except the Koopalings didn't look like clones of Bowser (a big plus) and actually had some sort of personality based on their designs :( Larry was my favourite.

Their appearance in Mario and Luigi: SSS, while cool, was also a lame attempt to bring them back, as they never spoke once. It's like they were just slapped on at the last minute to appease the fans or whatever.

OMG I finally got the game and I've only played with it a little bit so far and I'm liking it already. It's awesome how it closely resembles the classic games, complete with the same SFX! The Mega Mushroom makes it look too easy though, but I can just not use it when it comes.

I also checked out some of the mini-games, with myself and with multiplayer with my sister and they're quite fun compared to other mini-games, which normally are boring. It's good to see Monty Moles make an appearance, but hey, Where's the Koopa Kids? :(

Oh...oh...that laugh :(

I think someone else in this thread mentioned about the clunky controls in the game, and I agree. It doesn't feel very precise compared to the older Mario games. Spinning in the air takes way too long for me. It's something I'll have to get used to.

Aside from that nitpick, the game's quite fun. It seems harder too than previous games, or maybe I just suck. There is one level where I kept falling in between clouds to my doom. I must have died more than five times trying to get through the level.

Although it's cool to fight Bowser at the end of the world (I LOVE that roar he does), I still feel kinda sad that his death has to be so...gruesome. He's my favourite Mario character and all, Luigi being my second.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Now you got me curious, darn you!

I'm on World 3 now. I got eaten up by a large blue fish :(

I dig the final castle levels. Those chainlink fences sure bring back memories. Also, the animations on the enemies are awesome, especially those dang Piranha Plants.

P.S. How can fireballs work underwater? One of life's greatest mysteries.
